For a really good result they should be made of a strong heavy duty vinyl. There are various types of covers and a wide range of prices. In the same way that there is no point letting a grill get damaged, it is sensible not to spend a fortune on an old cheap one.

The top of the range varieties can be expensive, but if the machine to be protected is used often, the cost is worthwhile.

Some gas grill covers just cover the top part of the machine but a premium one will protect the entire piece of equipment. Not all appliances have to have a separate cover for their brand or size as there are some that are made to be used on different types.

Manufacturers do however accept that they are necessary and more and more are being produced.

All sites that sell covers will promote them as the best and most suitable. It is not only the quality but the sizes that are not properly advertised.

It is important to keep the appliance clean and protected and while most people consider that the wind and rain will do the most damage, there are also the insects to think off. Spiders and insects can settle in the machine, and while they may not damage a great deal no one wants to eat food that might have a spider's egg in it.

Some things are clearly not important when making the choice but some can give proper protection and extend the use of the grill. The most common type of materiel is soft PVC. The color is not important but the type of materiel is.

The lining should be non cloth polyester as this will not allow moisture to absorb. If moisture does get inside the appliance is likely to be attacked by mould or mildew. As it will be outside, it has to have a very high level of natural water resistance.

To make sure that air can still flow around the grill there are mesh vents. The cover should have a strong elastic base to make sure that it stays in place. As eating outdoors has become more popular it makes sense to protect the equipment whenever it is used.

It will not matter how good quality the gas grill cover is, if it is not fitted properly and it slips allowing the elements in, it will have been of no use whatsoever,

There are many things that the grill needs to be protected from but the main one is the weather. Rain or snow that is left on top of an uncovered appliance will cause rust. The sun can also cause damage but not as much as winter elements will.

Dust and dirt will not do anything to enhance the next barbecue. If it does not block anything, there is the risk of particles getting on to the food and spoil what can be a very enjoyable meal.

Leaving fallen leaves on top can lead to the sap leaking out and a lot of time that should be spent enjoying the day is used cleaning them before use. In the same way that spiders could settle, so could birds and rodents. They will just see it as somewhere warm and dry to settle and it will be ackward eating a meal knowing what has been nestling away for weeks.
