Saving gas isn't only for those that drive hybrids or cars with biodiesel engines. There are many things that people can do to save on gas.
Here is a list of great gas saving tips for everyone:
1. Find your best speed. This takes a bit of research, but every car has its own optimal speed. This could be 55, 60, or 65mph. To find out what is best for your particular car, try to drive at each speed until your next fill up.
2. Be aerodynamic. If your car has a roof rack on top, this increases the wind resistance and makes your car work harder. This is going to use more gas. Take of the roof rack until you really need it.
3. Lighten up. A heavier car uses more gas, so if you've got junk in your trunk, take it out and store it someplace else.
4. Tune your car regularly. Pay attention to the little sticker that tells you when it's time for your next oil change. When you go in, make sure the mechanic checks all the basics. Clean oil and a clean air filter can make a world of difference in the gas mileage your car is getting.
5. Drive less. Of course, this is obvious, but not many people actually follow this advice. Try to combine trips or plan them so that you're not backtracking. Make one weekly trip to the grocery store instead of a small trip every day. These little trips quickly add up and by eliminating them, you will save gas.
