Gavin Tollman - Creating A Social Impact In South Africa

Gavin Tollman began his successful travel career in the tourism industry in 1987. That year he was asked to take on the role of Buckhead Hotel Management Company executive vice president.

In the past decade Gavin Tollman has been an integral part of Trafalgar Tours, a travel and tourism company. He was President of the American branch of the company, which grew significantly under his leadership to become the most prominent US tour operator for European travel. He later became the head of global sales of Trafalgar Tours.

Today Gavin Tollman holds the position of Chief Executive Officer. As CEO he is trusted to oversee all of the Trafalgar Tours' business, sales, marketing and business development activities and operations.

Trafalgar Tours is owned by The Travel Corporation, which in turn owns more than 25 global travel brands including Contiki Holidays, AAT Kings, Uniworld, Brendan Vacations, Creative Holidays and African Travel. The corporation operates in sixty countries spread across five continents and has a staff of 4,000 employees in 35 offices; it is a Tollman family business.

Trafalgar Tours is best known for arranging and formulating tailor-made travels in Canada, USA, South America, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Asia etc. Gavin Tollman is a firm believer in the company's stated goal to revolutionize the tourism industry by creating hassle-free holiday experiences.

Gavin Tollman also serves as Chairman of The Travel Corporation South Africa. As chairman he directs The Travel Corporation S.A.'s operations in South Africa in particular and the southern hemisphere as a whole. He also leads the corporation's business development operations and its web strategy.

During the recent The Travel Corporation Global Sales Conference of 2010, which was held in Cape Town in October of that year, Gavin Tollman reiterated his dedication to the development of South African tourism. The conference was a week-long event which hosted The Travel Corporation's most notable executives, its founder and more than 300 business leaders from the international travel field.

Apart from his roles in The Travel Corporation, Gavin Tollman is also non-executive director of two tourism outfits, Cullinan Holdings Limited and Wilderness Safaris. Cullinan Holdings is a tourism group that operates in South Africa and Wilderness Safaris is an ecotourism and conservation outfit dedicated to the burgeoning field of responsible tourism; it operates in the southern Africa region.

Gavin Tollman has been steadfastly committed to creating a social impact in South Africa. He is a believer in the need for corporations to give back to the community and assist impoverished families. The Travel Corporation has been involved in several such events, including building Wendy Houses in Cape Town's surrounding townships.
