Gay Marriage Should Be Allowed

HERE'S WHAT I THINK

Gay Marriage Should Be Allowed

Thanks to the wonders of genetics, we've proven that homosexuality is a genetic difference, sort of like being left-handed. Gay people are genetically inclined to be attracted to their own gender in some cases, and therefore, to fall in love with someone of their own gender.

The argument against gay marriage revolves around a few topics, such as religion, or the idea that a marriage has to result in children.

As for religion, most countries believe in the separation of church and state. Since they also tend to believe in freedom of religion, I'm not sure why governments allow this to cloud the issue. Just because your religion doesn't allow this type of relationship, why should that apply to those that don't believe the same thing?

As for the question of children, there are many types of heterosexual relationships that don't produce children. My grandmother got remarried when she was 75, and her husband was 80. They couldn't have children. Should they have been allowed to marry? How about those relationships where one person is sterile?

The biggest issue with the whole argument lies in the fact that by not allowing gay marriage, you are denying a right to gays that is given to the majority.

So what do you think? Throw your two cents into the debate.

Of course! It's a right!

I'm hoping it will be overturned at the federal level soon. My fiance and us hope to get married in 2013, but the bill is going on the republican ballot in my state to ban all forms of possible union for us. I recently put a lens up highlighting how wonderful she is - I'm hoping people will read it and see that if Marriage is about love , then we fit in.
