Free Online Dangers for Gay Dating
Online Dating Dangers
There are two basic kinds of gay dating sites: paid sites and free sites. You might be attracted to the obvious advantage of a no-fee site. But there can also be drawbacks you need to know about. On the other hand, you do get a little more when you have to pay a fee: these sites are optimized to give you a higher level of satisfaction and they also offer their members some general safety.
Just remember that whether you choose paid or free, there are no dating sites created equally. You will only get what you do - or don't - pay for. You could be opening the door to risk and unknown dangers with a free dating site.
If these sites are in business to make money, how can these so-called free sites operate without charging membership fees? To begin with, the "bells and whistles" of a free site just don't exist. Free webcam chatting or video hosting capabilities don't exist with the free sites. More important, if there's trouble, you won't find a responsive customer service team ready to help. Consider yourself lucky if your fee-free site even offers a customer support phone number.
Outside of having less features and virtually no customer service, you will see a flood of advertisements every time you log on. They will bombard you with banner pop-ups and pop-unders. You can also expect to get e-mail advertising at least once a week. Want more "fee-free" stuff? They may sell your personal info to one or more large advertising companies.
Not convinced the free dating sites are a big waste of time?
OK, let's pretend you join one of those free sites. And you meet someone who interests you. Your e-mail conversations go so well that after a few weeks, you start talking by phone. It's going great virtually. But now you decide you're ready to meet in the real world. Since there are no fees that must be paid to use the dating service, this person could be virtually anybody. He or she could have loaded false images and provided false personal information when signing up. Not too mention, his or her personality might be completely designed to lure you into a personal meeting. Unfortunately, this happens all the time. It's possible the malicious party does not intend any harm to the person being deceived, but too often, unfortunately, that is exactly what he or she has in mind.
Assume the worst happens: You meet up with someone from a free dating site, and you're robbed or somehow assaulted; what do you tell the police? Here's the problem: there's no credit card on file. In fact, there's no official payment information at all. So where do the police start to look?
None of the drawbacks listed above exist on a paid dating site. While these sites will definitely charge you a fee, in exchange your whole experience will be much more pleasant. And you won't be harassed by those paid ads or junk e-mails.
With the paid dating sites, you'll be able to perform elaborate searches within the member database. You will also find several additional forms of user communication outside of email, such as instant messaging or possibly webcam chatting.
Perhaps the best perk of a paid site is the subtlest one that is often undervalued. If you found someone from the site that you liked enough to meet face to face, his or her real personal information is definitely on record with the site.
