One of the Funniest Men to Walk this Side of the Pacific

June 22nd 2008 was a dark day for the human race when. one of it's funniest men passed away. After 71 years of age his heart gave out, but we will always remember one of the greatest gifts he passed one to us. Don't take authority seriously, and by all means do not listen to them, they only want to abuse us. George Carlin threw open the doors that Lenny Bruce was having a hard time opening. Where as, Lenny Bruce was left to his own devices to fight anti-obscenity laws - he could never pay the court fees, get work, heroin addiction, etc. His influence on George Carlin was paramount throughout Carlin's career. His observances of daily life, discourses on middle American taboos, the Hippy Dippy weather man will endure. I declare June 22nd and August 3rd (Lenny Bruce died) national holidays.

George Carlin is one of Americas funniest comedians. In fact he was voted Amercias second funniest comedian behind Richard Pryor and just a head of Lenny Bruce according to Comedy Central. His career has spanned over 5 decades. His topical comedy has endeared him to several generations. Most recently he has even provided his voice to Pixars movie entitled Cars as Fillmore. From the time he started with the Ed Sullivan to the present he has made people laugh. With his hippy dippy weather man, to his semantics, and his hysterical observations of life, his humour has made us laugh from the 1960s to the present.

He enriched our lives, and will be missed. At least he had such a prolific career, there's no shortage of DVDs and CDs for us to enjoy for the years to come.

"Don't take authority seriously, and by all means do not listen to them" Right on! We lost a great libertarian soul, and a truly funny man last night! He'll probably be remembered for those famous 7 words, but he should be remembered for all the rest of 'em, too!! Nice lens!
