There is something very exotic about the Orient and even more so intrigue and mystique of the Geisha. I love these Geisha cross stitch patterns. These are so beautifully decorative. I have actually framed several of them in my gallery (including the one featured in the intro photo) and can tell you the one's I've seen are every bit as exotic and beautiful in real life as they appear here. Tips For Creating A Beautiful Cross Stitch

From A Professional Picture Framer

I've been a professional picture framer for over 20 years and I have stretched quite literally thousands of cross stitches over the years. In that Time I've learned a couple of things.

* Always wash your hands Your hands have natural oils that are alway present and may occasionally discolor a cross stitch that's been worked on for a long period of time. These oils can sink into the fabric and may not come even out after washing your cross stitch.

* Avoid stitching too tightly Tight stitches cause warping which may not stretch straight when it comes time to frame your cross stitch. Also if the framer pulls too hard on it to get it straight, some of your stitches may pop.

* Stitch in the same direction. This gives a smooth tapestry like quality to your needlework when finished.

* Don't tie off your stitches using knots. Simply thread them through other stitches to hold them firmly in place. Knotting your floss will cause it to be lumpy when framed.

* Bleed Check your floss.This way when you wash it before framing it, your colors won't run and ruined all your effort.

* Try not leave cross stitches in hoops too long. Sometimes the ring marks don't wash out.

* Similarly roll your cross stitch when storing because folding it will cause the edges to crease and attract dirt which may not wash out. It is best to roll your cross stitch when storing or between stitching.

* Wash (with a mild soap) and if necessary iron your cross stitch before having it framed. Not all frame shops offer this service for you.

Starch is not needed Often when the needlework is washed it is sometimes starched as well. This is not needed and a heavy strach may indeed hinder the stretching process when trying to get it to lay straight.

If you don't have a lot of extra aida cloth around your central design do something to prevent fraying This may be as simple as serging with a sewing machine or even using tape or fray check. If you have at least 2 inches extra cloth this isn't necessary.

I have a weird question....I started stitching the Enchanting Geisha and then I lost or misplaced the pattern instructions. Do you happen to have an extra copy of the pattern so I do not have to buy the entire kit again? If not, no worries at all.

I love to cross stitch! I have never seen so many pretty "Geisha's"! As a returning participant in Squidoo, re-learning everything, I really appreciate your lens style. I like to "sell" what I love on Amazon as well. Could you share how you set up your text modules? I like how you have the direct link to Amazon at the bottom of each item.
