Gemini Symbol Art, Prints & History

The Gemini constellation is one of the more easily recognizable in the heavens.

Dating back to prehistory, the symbol of Gemini represents two stick figures said to represent the Roman number "two", which was the Spartan symbol for twin gods. Hence, we know this symbol as the sign of the "Twins", denoting its bearer with the tag "twin personality". The Gemini Symbol, depicted in much of the art below, is known as the "child" of the Zodiac.

A person born under the symbol of Gemini is said to have two different personalities. Popular consensus is that a Gemini can change his or her mind as often as they change clothes. The Gemini can be blessed with the gift of gab, speaking fast and fluently and filled with an abundance of energy.

Gemini are ruled by the planet Mercury and are probably guilty of getting bored too quickly and needing to have stimulating ideas or things to do to keep them entertained. The sign of Gemini, with it's dual nature is depicted in the symbol art below as such, in a multitude of spins.

Get ready, if you don't know this, you're going to love it:
History says the names of the Gemini Twins were "Castor" and "Pollux" and apparently their mother Leda had them from different fathers. Yes, that's right..twins with different fathers! The story goes that Leda conceived the twins on the same night, one twin from her hubby (Castor) and thus a mortal, and the other from Zeus (Pollux) and therefore immortal.

The story of Castor and Pollux is, however, a love story. Castor's talent was the ability to give love, and, as it so happened, he was also very good with horses. Pollux's predominant trait was his immortal powers. The story continues that Castor and Pollux both fought in the Trogan war to help bring back their sister Helen to her hubby. However Castor didn't survive, and Pollux was left with a tremendous broken heart. Thus, Pollux begged Zeus to let Castor have the immortality he had. Zeus granted Pollux's request and the constellation in the heavens is where you can find Castor and Pollux living eternally and happy as the immortal twins.
