Aquamarine, from the light blue of the sky and the deep blue of the sea

The name of aquamarine is derived from Latin words "aqua" water and "marine" sea. Therefore name "aquamarine" means sea water.
Aquamarine is almost as popular as the classics: ruby, sapphire and emerald. In fact it is related to the emerald, both belonging to the beryl family and it is much more often than its green cousin.
Its color result from the trace element Fe and they can be found in colors that are bluish-green, blue-green, light greenish-blue, greenish blue, light blue natural and beautiful light blue. Most aquamarines treated by heat to enhance its color to produce more desirable blue color.
Aquamarine is a symbol of beauty, honesty and loyalty so it is a perfect gift, especially, for weddings. But, you should be very careful when you are purchase aquamarine, because many times blue topaz sold as aquamarine, as blue topaz is much cheaper then aquamarine.
