Addicted To Ancestor Hunting

How I Was Bitten By The Genealogy Bug!

At age 14, I was bitten by the genealogy bug. Who were my ancestors? Where did they immigrate from? Was I like them in any way? And most importantly, how would I find them?
Thus was born my insatiable need to stay on the hunt to fill each spot on my family tree. Some were easy to track down; others have become the proverbial 'brick wall'.
Thanks to incredible advances in internet genealogy research and sharing of information, some of those early brick walls are now coming down!
I built this lens as a place to share some of those sources that have helped me find my own ancestors and to give shopping sources for some great products for genealogists. After all, once you find all those ancestors, you need to show them off!
I hope you will enjoy reading about some genealogy how-tos and find something new that will help you in your own family history research.
Please sign the guestbook and tell about your own genealogy quest. If you like this lens, I'd love to have your feedback and a thumbs up from stumble or a bookmark on del.icio.us would be great. It would help others find this lens too.

How To Take A Cemetery Tombstone Rubbing

Preserve precious genealogy data and have a lot of fun.

Many older tombstones are eroded and moss covered. Genealogy info can still be gleaned by making a rubbing. This is a great way to involve kids in genealogy, especially when they find a great great grandparent's grave and can take home proof in the form of a gravestone rubbing. Here are some sites that tell how to do it:
Essortment - The Craft Of Tombstone Rubbing
Site Offers - "Tombstone rubbings using household goods. Included also are tips on conducitng historical and geneological searches."
Family Tree Magazine - Tombstone Rubbing
Cool way to use fabric interfacing instead of paper to take tombstone rubbings!
