GenealogyWise

Move over MySpace and Facebook. A new social networking site, the creation of Family Link, came on to the scene with a sonic boom! Within hours of it's publication, the membership grew at a rapid pace.

Geared towards genealogy addicts and family history buffs, this site is destined to to set membership records.

This site was originally set to launch Fri. July 17th but instead has launched several days earlier. memebrship stands at 4,528 at this time (July 14).

More than 3,000 users joined and contributed more than 10,000 items to the site within the first four days. -- Paul Allen, CEO at FamilyLink.com, Inc.

My Thoughts on GW

Is This really A Social Networking Site?

Or the greatest genealogical resource tool ever invented?

The speed at which GenealogyWise is growing is amazing.

Perhaps calling GenealogyWise a "social networking site" is misleading. I am sure it is what the creators, had in mind but from the standpoint of a member, this site is turning out to be, in my opinion, one of the greatest genealogical tools ever to come on the scene.

Have you ever attended a genealogy seminar where the speakers were just so knowledgeable and you learned so much that you were glad you traveled the distance and paid the fee to attend? Where other attendees were helpful and you asked questions at the luncheon, swapped information, compared notes, made connections, only to have it end a few days later? Didn't you just hate that! Did you feel like you had walked into heaven and out again within that time span?

Think of GenealogyWise as an ongoing seminar. You have access, through the forums, and groups to do everything you could do at that seminar. Ask questions, get help with research, make family connections, and make new friends in the process.

The other great genealogy leaders in the field, whose names I won't mention and whose associations I am a paying member of, could not have foreseen or understood the powerful response to this new site...or they would have done this when MySpace came on the scene years ago.

Regardless of when it happened, it has happened and the dust hasn't even been kicked up good yet!

If you aren't a member of GenealogyWise, you are being left behind! What are you waiting for?
