Generate Facebook likes using QR codes - For FREE

A like gate is a facebook page that hides certain content until the user clicks the "like" button on that page.

For example: I work with a restaurant that offers a coupon for fans of its page, but you can only get to the page to download it if you click the "like" button on their facebook page.

This is what happens.

1) A Person will come into a business and be promised a discount on an item (via coupon) if they scan the QR Code and Click the like button on the page that is displayed on their phone.

2) We link the "Like" Button to the businesses facebook page so when the user clicks the "like" button it actually likes the businesses facebook page (thus building a list that the business can use later).

3) As soon as the consumer clicks on the "like" button, which is displayed on their phones screen. The main page has been replaced by another page.

4) They show the person at the show, barber shop (for example..) the coupon and they get a discount.

It's easy as that....

A QR (Quick Response) Code is a 2D barcode that can be read by special software on a camera phone, usually as a free download on a smart phone. Just search for "QR scanner" in the iTunes or Droid app store.

Depending on your QR code reader, once scanned you'll be redirected to a web page, call a phone number, see a message, or other action. (I can only imagine the merry prankster who will love this "what's behind door number one" app.)

According to Joe Rosenfield of Edison Press, who presented, a QR code can contain a URL, calendar event, contact info (such as a vCard), email address, SMS text message, and even geolocation information. How these are handled may depend on the QR scanner you use. (I use QR App.)
