Different methods of generating income from your blog

This lens is going to talk about the various method bloggers use to generate income stream from their blogs. There are in fact many ways to make money. Different blog may find that certain methods are more efficient than others.

You must test out different kind of income generating to find out which one suit your blog the best. It also depends on your readership. If your readers are local Malaysians, the choices is quite limited compared to the blog which got a lot of US readership.

Traffic is Money 

Normally the more traffic you get, the money you will generate

Of course, it also depends on how you monetize the traffic.

Traffic simply means how many people are visiting your blog from day to day basis. Your new blog is just another "new house" built on the Internet. A real house need roads and transportation network for other people to reach it. Similarly, a blog need "networking" in terms of links and search engine recommendation in order to let other people visit your blog.

If you know how to get a lot of traffic to your blog, you will get money from it.

Visitors are prospect 

Blogging is not about technology. It is about networking. Business is about people.

You have to know that every visitor, other than your spouse, friends and relatives, all the other strangers who visit your blog is your prospect customers!

They are the one who will help you...
they will pay you money ..
they will click your advertisement that pays you money
they will buy your products
they will buy the products your recommend...

So .. you must know how to convert your prospects (the visitors) into customers.

Subscribers are customers 

Convert visitors to subscribers. They will be your supporters, your followers and your customers

Once you successfully convert visitors to subscribers, they will become your long term customers, if you take good care of them.

That's the number of subscribers normally shows how successful a blog is!
Some bloggers have more than 100,000 subscribers. If one subscriber pays you $1 a month, you will have $100,000 per month income!

If you are able to get more than 1000 subscribers, you should see some income. It depends on how well you monetize the traffic and subscribers. The potential income shall be around US$100-1000/month (based on 1000 subscribers).

Type of Income Sources of a Blog 

There are various income streams for a blog.

As you grow your blog and test out different income stream, you may find that certain methods give you more income than the others. It depends on your topic niches, and also who is your readers and subscribers.

For example, if your readers are book lovers and they stay in the US, you will find that the Amazon Associates program will convert really well.

If your readers are Malaysians and Singaporeans, you will find the Nuffnang and Adverlets advertising networks give you a decent income.

Here is a list of the main money makers for a blog
  1. Lease your real estate: ADVERTISING
  2. Sell other people's product: AFFILIATE MARKETING
  3. Sell your own products: BOOKS, EBOOKS, ONLINE COURSES, MEMBERSHIP ETC
  4. Grow your offline business:

    e.g. My blog talks about personal finance. There are readers who seek my help in personal finance and some of them ended up buying insurance plans and invest their saving with me.
  5. Ask for DONATION
  6. Being PAID to blog - writing paid posts or sponsored posts
