Cutting Through the Hype

There is a lot of hype on this topic. Yes, Baby Boomers are sharing the workplace with Generation X and now Millennials, and there are real differences among the generations. But there isn't a lot of clear information out there about what, exactly, those differences are and what kind of real difference they make in the workplace. I hope this lens will help you cut through the hype so you can actually start doing something about generational diversity in the workplace.

Ebook on Generational Diversity in the Workplace

In order to cut through the hype, I have written a brief e-book (60 pages) about generational diversity in the workplace. It describes the four generations in today's workplace, but spends more time on how to effectively deal with the differences than it does trying to get the stereotypes "just right." When you go to the book's page you'll be able to download a preview of the first chapter.

Review of E-Book
Here's a great review of the book. Better than I could have written, frankly.

Strauss and Howe in HBR

Strauss and Howe are my favorite authors about generational issues, although their great book (see the books module below) is from (gasp!) 1991. But they do have a new article out in Harvard Business Review this month. You have to be a subscriber to read the full article online, but here is the link.
