Generic Medications
Generic medications are FDA-approved equivalents of brand name medications, often sold at prices much lower than brand name medications. Generic medications are required to have the same dose, strength, means of administration (tablet, intravenous, etc.), and safety of the brand name medication.
Over 1 billion generic prescriptions are dispensed each year in the USA, representing nearly 60% of all purchased medications.
