Posting Queries

If you want to get your information out there, and find someone else researching the same ancestors you are, you'll need to post a query. Well, not just one query, many queries. I'll help you here to get the most out of the space you'll have available.

1. Keep it simple. No matter how interesting you believe your story about great uncle Raymond is, most others won't find it quite so entertaining. Keep the query to only the facts.

2. Include information on only one or two people, not an entire family. Putting too many dates and names in one query can be overwhelming for the reader. Many genealogists simply skim over the queries. Including information on only two people will help them to remember what was written.

3. Include all dates and facts as possible on both people in your query. Now I don't mean you need to put the dates of every event in their lives, only the most important: birth, marriage, death, etc. and include places.

4. Again, keep it short! Don't include the stories! You can say something in your query like: "I have a great story about Great Grandpa's run-in with the law to share with other descendants!"
