How Do You Geocache?
Ok, so how do you geocache? Easy, you can find your treasure or cache by driving or hiking, or just by walking around your neighborhood, local ball park, or wherever. Caches can be hidden/placed literally anywhere. While they are usually not buried, they can be hard to find even when you're almost standing on top of them.
Geocaching can be a group or individual endeavor. There are geocaching clubs and groups that compete to see who can discover a targeted cache first. The first one to record the find in the cache's logbook wins.
So, just for simplicity sake, let's say you and your family are going to drive to a part of the state you have been wanting to explore. PEFRECT! You can enjoy the family, the outdoors, experience an adventure, and have tons of fun doing it!

What Geo Cashing Supplies Will You Need?
First of all, decide what type of geocache you can handle? Each cache listed online lists a difficulty rating. If you're a beginning geocacher, pick an easy one so you can see how it's done, then, you can go all out. Will you be driving your vehicle or hiking? If you're to be hiking a trail, is the terrain difficult or easy?
If hiking is your decision, be sure to include water, food and extra clothing. Always bring both a map and a compass. Note: Check geocache terrain and difficulty ratings prior to launching your adventure.
Let someone know where you are going, the people who got lost permanently, never let others know where they were going.
Of course you are going to need your own GPS. Be sure to check out not only the reviews, but also read what other geocaches have said about the model you're considering. Avoid buying based on price alone
Bring EXTRA batteries for your GPS..yes I know I screamed it..I intended too..
Get a specified bag or box to keep all of your geo cashing supplies in; it will make life much simpler...

So, How Do You Find These Cool Geocaches?
** It is Free and you can find out the closest caches in your area.
** You enter your zip code and then click on the name of the cache.
** Next you enter the coordinates in to your GPS device.
** Hopefully, your cache contains some kind of geo coin. Take one of the coins or trinkets from the cache and replace with a geo coin you have.
There is a great place to get some really unique geo coins and they are very inexpensive. Check out these cool geo coins here.
Next, the hunt is on....Once you find the cache, be sure to sign the log book and return it to it's original location, and once you get home, jump on your computer, go back to where you found the cache online and note your find there.
Now, you are ready for your next adventure.

Where Can Geocaches Be Placed?
Anywhere, literally anywhere, on the side of a rocky mountain, under water, in a swamp, in the woods, or smack in the middle of the hottest, biggest desert on earth.Or, in a city or town... They can be stashed down at your local dog park, beside a public building building, in a parking lot, along a side walk. It's up to the imagination of the cache owner.
That's why you want to check the terrain and difficulty rating BEFORE you select your cache. You'll want to select only those caches that fit your physical abilities, skills and talents. For example, if you aren't an expert rock climber, don't pick a cache that's located on the side of a mountain where rock climbing equipment would be needed.
