Enchanted the movie

- perfect treat for the family

Walt Disney has released a new movie called Enchanted. This is one of those movies with the Space Jam attitude, mixing animation with real actors and stuff. I kinda like this approach and to think that this movie dwells in the story of a fairy tale in a modern world backdrop, this is going to an interesting film to watch with the whole family together.

The film has Amy Adams, James Marsden, and Patrick Dempsey as the main characters. My family is already pushing to bring them to the cinemas whenever the film hits theaters. And since I love them so much so I am gonna give them what they want.

I hope it will be a great experience.

Beowulf - movie review

Here's an excerpt of a review done by Nathaniel Rogers on Beowulf:

Things I never expected to see in a major motion picture:

* Angelina Jolie reprising her Alexander role in full: snaky visual motif, unplaceable Dracula's daughter accent, and birth mother to killing machine.
* Ray Winstone with Brad Pitt's body.
* A lengthy animated fight scene wherein the hero is stark naked.
* A dragon battle that's actually thrilling (the movies have never been able to do dragons well --this one made me believe that a film version of Naomi Novik's Temeraire series is a good idea)
* A 'hide the salami' scene that's almost as funny as the famous nude Austin Powers sequence
* Crispin Glover all sympathetic instead of just freaky

And yet, there they were, all of these improbable things in one place: Robert Zemeckis' gargantuan gothic and goofy motion capture spectacle Beowulf.

I am actually of the movie's terrific visual effects. I am shocked to see Ray Winstone looking so muscular and lean. Haha. The power of computers graphics and visual techniques. But still, I want to watch this film. I think it is going to be a one helluva movie experience.

What happened to Jewel's breasts?

This is not one of Jewel's best moments. She is a fine-looking girl but this she looks wretched in this pic. It must be because of those breast implants that don't look so good. Or are they? They are too small to be implants. Perhaps Jewel was just using a push-up bra. But then again, if she was, then she must have done it the wrong way.

I have seen a lot of female celebrities wearing a push-up bra and they looked so good in them.

The Invasion

Starring: Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig

The Invasion has Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig in the cast. I should commend Nicole for a job well done. She is very effective for the role and I think she really should at least get a nomination from this. Daniel Craig, on the other hand, didn't shine in this movie. Perhaps because of the hairstyle or something, I am not really sure. He must have been confined in the small role he has to play. His lines were very limited then.

The Invasion is based on the famous novel Body Snatchers and I think the film director did a decent job of capturing the novel's best moments. It was indeed scary to note that you will become a different person once you contract the virus.

Here's the synopsis of the movie:

A space shuttle mysteriously crashes on Earth, and an extraterrestrial disease in the wreckage begins infecting human beings. A psychiatrist from Washington, D.C., Carol Bennell (Nicole Kidman), and her colleague Ben Driscoll (Daniel Craig) discover that the transformation caused by the infection is triggered by REM sleep, robbing the victims of their humanity. As the infection spreads, fewer people can be trusted. Fighting to stay awake, Carol looks for her son, who may hold the answer to stopping the invasion.

I think the movie is great and I enjoyed it very much.

Eddie Murphy is a good father

From justjared:

Deadbeat daddy Eddie Murphy defends himself to Entertainment Tonight via a statement on his behalf.

"Eddie Murphy always has and will continue to honor his responsibilities as a father. Mr. Murphy and Ms. Brown dated very briefly and never made any plans of ANY sort. He acknowledges paternity of the child Angel, and has paid child support to Ms. Brown as well as covering the expenses of her pregnancy. Mr. Murphy views this as a private matter and as such, will not be making any further comments about it."

In a press conference earlier this week, Mel B's attorney Gloria Allred alleged that Eddie has not paid a penny in financial support.

I can't stand this guy. I mean he looks funny on TV and on the big screen but considering that he lied about the child support is beyond me. He even got the nerve to defend himself when he clearly isn't doing anything to prove that he is a good father to his children.

I don't know. I just couldn't understand why guys like him even have children.

David and Posh Beckham on the cover of W Magazine

One hot British couple

David Beckham and Spice Girl Victoria 'Posh' Beckham are on the cover of the latest issue of W Magazine. The couple looks like they are really out to show to the TomKats and Brangelinas that they are the sexiest couple in town. They made sure that their intimate poses in intimate clothing are on display. Indeed, they sure are one hot and daring couple.

They have just arrived in America and they are making a lot of waves already. The British couple do make a lot of news. Maybe because David is such a hero in Soccer and Posh's breast implants are really freaky. Well, whatever it is that they are famous of, they are making quite a lot of money out of it.

Paris Hilton will be receiving special treatment

TMZ reports that Paris Hilton's cell mate has already been selected. Poor girl. An inmate who is doing time for reckless driving will be Paris' official company inside the cell. Sources tell TMZ that jailers were looking for someone who believe will not try to cash in on Hilton's stay. The woman is said to be already inside the cell waiting for Paris' arrival.

TMZ's sources say a "written protocol" has already been prepared especially for Paris' stay, detailing "when and how things should be done for her."

It looks like Paris Hilton is gonna be receiving some special pampering from the jailguards after all. Well, I don't really want something bad to happen to the heiress but I just don't like the fact that when you're rich and famous, you get to stay in jail the same way that you stay in a hotel. Well, justice is served for her but then again, the special treatment is a huge taint of injustice still.

Jordin Sparks - American Idol 6 Champ

Jordin Sparks is the newest addition to the American Idol family of champs joining Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, and Taylor Hicks. She is also the youngest person to win the title, beating out beatboxer Blake Lewis.

A record of 74 millions votes were cast and proclaimed Jordin as the winner.

The Final Two sang the song This Is My Now, which won the songwriting competition. Obviously, Jordin's version was better because the song is made for belting. Blake was at an obvious disadvantage.

Congratulations, Jordin!!!

Sanjaya is finally out

It was a bit surprising to see Lakisha Jones in the bottom two this week in American Idol. I know Lakisha didn't give a very good performance but I just didn't think the people would deprive her their votes. Lucky for her though, Sanjaya Malakar was sent packing to the delight and dismay of the many people.

Well, of course those who have been aching to see Sanjaya go were delighted. They have always been claiming that the dude has no talent. That he can't sing. That he is tone-deaf.

On the other side of the fence are the Sanjaya fans who have been supporting their idol from day one. Sanjaya is a good-looking kid and has charisma. He just lacks the singing prowess that the show is trying to find.

Now Simon can feel good knowing that he doesn't have to fulfill his promise of quitting the show once Sanjaya wins.

Jackie Chan and Jet Li in one movie? Cool

I have always been a fan of kung fu movies. I like Jackie Chan and I love Jet Li. And it seems my appetite for such genre would all the more be sated because two of the world's greatest martial arts actors are gonna team up for a one big action movie.

Variety says that the two are going to star in a Lions Gate movie, The Forbidden Kingdom.

Not everyone loves 300

Well I saw the film and I think it was nicely done. In the first place, I didn't go there to watch a flawless movie. If I did I would be greatly disappointed. I watched it with the intent of enjoying its cinematography and special effects. This obviously is not what Sukhdev Sandhu did. Telegraph said so.

300 earns 70 million on its first week

I saw 300 and it was indeed a great film. Not that deep but it sure is packed with a lot of goodies.

It is no wonder then that 300 did a landslide in the box-office. Yahoo Movies has this details to prove just that.

Antonella should go home

Antonella Barba has made a name for herself in the American Idol history, though not in a good way. Her sexy pictures on the internet have spread like virus and those who are inflicted by its pangs keep on searching for more provocative pictures. Sure, Antonella is a fine-looking woman and her pictures can prove that very well. However, this controversy does not help her at all to get some respect in the competition she is in.

An Inconvenient Truth wins two Oscars

Al Gore's global warming crisis documentary, An Incovenient Truth, wins two Oscars!

1. Best Documentary Feature
2. Achievement in music written for motion pictures (Original song) for "I Need to Wake Up" from "An Inconvenient Truth" --> Music and Lyric by Melissa Etheridge

I am glad the Oscars actually gave credit to this excellent documentary. Kudos to Al Gore and all those who made the film possible. Nice job guys!

What's up with Britney Spears?

I didn't really admire Britney Spears the moment I saw her first music video for Baby One More Time. I thought she is just anothen teen pop sensation who creates one-hit wonders. But then I was wrong. She became a superstar after months of continually dominating the airwaves with chart-topping hits.

She got what she dreamed of. She got a name for herself. In just a year or two, she became a household name. But that is also the time she began to show her true colors? She became wild and dirty. The wholesome image was suddenly stripped away from her and the bitchy/slutty image took over. That is also when I began to dislike her very much.

Happy Hearts Day! Everyday!

The first time I met my wife, I knew fully well that she was the one for me. And the moment that I kissed her lips, I am fully aware that she will be with me for the rest of my life. The feeling was incredible. It's as if I have been transported into another place and time, where sorrow and loneliness don't exist. Truly, love masks away life's flaws and makes all of us appreciate how beautiful life is.

My wish for a better world

I am not going to fill this blog with emotional crap about various things in life that are often beyond my control. But as I read about this series of executions of Saddam Hussein and his allies of which one was decapitated, I can't help but renew my wish for a better world. A world free from all these social maladies and a world that thrives on love, hope, and camaraderie. But considering that this wish would always remain a wish and that I am pretty sure I won't be seeing my wish getting fulfilled in my lifetime, this just makes the whole thing a lot hopeless.
