Gerry Baptist
Artist Gerry Baptist was born in 1935 in Lahore in 1935 and grew up and went to school in both India and England. He studied graphics and painting at Walthamstow School of Art and the London College of Printing.
Baptist worked in graphics in England and Germany while developing his painting skills by working on large scale expressionistic abstracts as well as drawing and sketching from life. Today, he dedicates his time to painting and printmaking.

About Gerry Baptist In His Own Words
I've always liked opposites; they create new and unexpected images when put together in a work. Unrelated ideas or colours with no apparent similarities result in the unforeseen and original.
In my years in graphics my interest in ever changing contrasts were stimulated by the various styles of design in the media; a clashing, bright and exciting world. Contemporary styles and culture still drip feeds into my blood and makes changes to my work.
I'm a painter but also make etchings and silk screens as well as using a computer to create digital pictures. My subject matter is wide and includes figures, portraits, landscapes and abstracts.
