With the plummeting price of the dollar, I wanted to share some tips on getting the best travel resources for the budget conscious traveler.

1. Skip the touristy areas for restaurants

hances are, places where the most tourists reside are usually the most expensive. By eating ethnic food, such as Ethiopian in Paris, you will get the cheapest food for your tummy.

2. Talk to the natives

There is no better tour guide than the natives. By talking to the natives, hotel staff, or tour guides, you can get advice on the best cheap places to go in the area. After all, nobody knows their regional area best than the natives.

3. Comparison shop

If you plan to book your travel online, such as in Expedia or Travelocity, then it pays to comparison shop in the different online booking travel sites before you choose the correct one. Try Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, Hotwire, Kayak before you finally decide to book your vacation.

4. Use promotional codes

Remember while booking online, you can save even more by finding coupons for your online travel. With a travelocity coupon, you may save from $50 up to $200 or more. Hotwire coupon codes also give great bargains for the traveler.

5. Go to less traveled places

Places such as Portugal instead of Spain are less popular and can give you an added benefit of seeing less crowds.

6. Find travel mistakes

Go to sites like travelglitch.com to see if you can get the best deals at the best price. You can see travel mistakes on this site.

7. Plan in advance

Don't procrastinate, you can get the best deals in travel if you plan ahead. You also have the most options available to you.

8. Stay in hostels if you can

Especially if you are single, one of the best ways to save in travel is to stay in hostels. Hostels are like commmunity hotels where you share a room with other travelers you may not know. A great source of cheap hotels and hostels in Europe is a site called eurocheapo.com and hostelbookers.com.

9. Big cities in the United States have passes

If you plan to go to a big city such as New York, then check to see if they have city passes. Cities usually have city passes where you can get an opportunity to view many attractions of the city for a cheaper price.

10 How about China

China is still a super bargain but as the country develops, I am sure it will not be like this for long. The Chinese government is making great efforts by constructing many hotels and resorts. You can still get amazing vacation deals for cheap prices by going to China. You can go visit historic sites like the Great Wall and its ever diverse shopping metropolis.
