A paid or incentivized survey is a type of statistical survey where the participant is rewarded through an incentive program, generally entry into a sweepstakes program or a small cash reward, for completing one or more surveys.
A paid survey is used to collect quantitative information about the participants' personal and economic habits set against their particular demographic. Incentivized surveys are considered to be more likely to catch a wider and more representative range of respondents compared to unincentivised surveys. YouGov in the United Kingdom say
Legitimate surveys are usually unpaid (as with Gallup poll) or incentivized (as with Survey Vault Or YouGov); surveys where the respondent must pay or purchase products to join a panel are generally scams, as are sites that disappear before paying the participants. Legitimate surveys do not need credit card information from respondents.

Cash versus Rewards
Most survey sites that pay in cash require you to meet a minimum balance before being paid out. Some will pay using paypal, some will send you a check in the mail. If you are in need of some quick cash, look for free paid survey sites that have a low minimum payout that can be requested at any time. Some sites only pay monthly which could delay your payment depending on when you finally hit your minimum.

The first method is to fill out your profile on the site. This allows the survey site to understand your interests and will often allow you to receive more invitations to surveys.
The second way to earn more from paid surveys online is to refer your family and friends. If they sign up on a site using your referral link, you will receive a bonus amount. Some sites will even continue to pay you as your referrals earn money (a tier system).
