"The Richest Man In Babylon"
Lo! Money is plentiful for those who understand the simple rules of its acquisition
The Richest Man In Babylon was first published in 1926 as a collection of parables on how to be financially successful. The parables were written by George S. Clason and set in ancient Babylon. The value of the parables is just as relevant today as it was in 1926 and in ancient times.
In the book's foreword, George S Clason states: Babylon became the wealthiest city of the ancient world because its citizens were the richest people of their time. They appreciated the value of money. They practiced sound financial principles in acquiring money, keeping money and making their money earn more money. They provided for themselves what we all desire... incomes for the future.
Millions of readers have been helped by the famous Babylonian parables, hailed as the greatest of all inspirational works on the subject of thrift, financial planning, and personal wealth.
In language as simple as that of the Bible, these fascinating and informative stories set you on a sure path to prosperity and its accompanying joys.
Acclaimed as a modern day classic, this celebrated bestseller offers an understanding of - and solution to - your personal financial problems that will guide you through a lifetime.
This is a book that holds the secrets to acquiring money, keeping money, and making money earn more money.

Get Rich. Stay Rich. The Secrets Revealed.
The "Richest Man In Babylon" shows you the eleven steps to financial success
The Richest Man In Babylon is a short paperback book of eleven chapters, each written in the style of a parable to convey a different message of how to get rich, stay rich and grow rich.
- The Man Who Desired Gold Where we are introduced to Bansir the chariot maker and his friend Kobbi. Both are weary of being without gold in the midst of plenty and wish to become men of means. They plan to visit an old friend, Arkad, who is claimed to be the richest man in all Babylon. They will ask him how they may acquire incomes for themselves.
- The Richest Man In Babylon Where Arkad tells them that 'A part of all I earn is mine to keep' and that they need to save a portion of this. Let it be not less than one-tenth and lay it by, arranging other expenditures to do this if necessary. Make this treasure work for you. Make it your slave. Make its children and its children's children work for you.
- Seven Cures For A Lean Purse Arkad tells all of his cures: (i) Start thy purse to fattening, (ii) Control thy expenditures, (iii) Make thy gold multiply, (iv) Guard thy treasures from loss, (v) Make of thy dwelling a profitable investment, (vi) Insure a future income, (vii) Increase thy ability to earn.
- Meet The Goddess Of Good Luck The desire to be lucky is universal. It was just as strong in the breasts of men four thousand years ago in ancient Babylon as it is in the hearts of men today. We all hope to be favored by the whimsical Goddess of Good Luck. Is there some way we can meet her and attract, not only her favorable attention, but her generous favors? This is an excellent question for Arkad to answer.
- The Five Laws Of Gold The Old Kalabab tells us that "Gold is reserved for those who know its laws and abide by them" He knows this because he was taught the laws by Arkad's son who said to him: "For the benefit of you who are seated here this night, I will read the wisdom of my father as engraved upon the clay tablet which he gave to me ten years ago: THE FIVE LAWS OF GOLD"
- The Gold Lender Of Babylon We are introduced to Mathon, the Gold Lender, giving sage advice to Rodan. Rodan has 50 pieces of gold to invest and wants to maximise his return. Mathon shows him the carving beneath the lid of his token box: BETTER A LITTLE CAUTION THAN A GREAT REGRET and explains that it applies equally to the borrower and lender.
- The Walls Of Babylon Where we learn that the city of Babylon endured for centuries because it was fully protected. It couldn't afford not to be. The walls of Babylon were an outstanding example of man's need and desire for protection. In this day, behind the impregnable walls of insurance, savings accounts and dependable investments, we can guard against unexpected tragedies.
- The Camel Trader Of Babylon Dabasir the camel trader discovers a great truth. A truth that had been known and used by wise men long before his time. It has led men of all ages out of difficulties and into success and it will continue to do so for those who have wisdom to understand its magic power.
- The Clay Tablets From Babylon An archaeological find that discloses the problem of a person named Dabasir to pay off his debts and become a man of means in his native city of Babylon. He is determined to follow an exact plan that he doth say will lead any honorable man out of debt into means and self respect.
- The Luckiest Man In Babylon "Tears of gratitude filled my eyes. I knew I was the luckiest man in Babylon. Work, thou see, by this, in the time of my greatest distress, didst prove to be my best friend. My willingness to work enabled me to escape from being sold to join the slave gangs upon the walls." so says Sharru Nada as he recounts how his hard work paid off.
- An Historical Sketch Of Babylon Babylon is an outstanding example of man's ability to achieve great objectives, using whatever means are at his disposal. All of the resources supporting this large city were man-developed. All of its riches were man made. The Babylonians were clever financiers and traders. So far as we know, they were the original inventors of money as a means of exchange, of promissory notes and written titles to property

- Wow! Glad this story is fiction. Prosperity is not luck. It is hard work, dedication, devotion to a cause and coated with talent, skill, and knowledge. As for the 10%. This is biblical truth. This is the portion God commanded his people to dedicate to Him for the sole purpose to his people learning how to put God first. "Then all of these things shall be added to you." Good fiction though.
