Get Rid of Acne

The following is a list of common household items that can help to get rid of acne.

Baking soda - Mix baking soda with a bit of water to create an exfoliating scrub. Exfoliating scrubs clear the pores of dead skin cells, grease, and natural oils that cause acne.

Apple Cider Vinegar - Apply a diluted solution (8:1 water) to the affected area with a cotton ball. It can kill off acne causing bacteria, balance your skin's pH, and absorb extra oil on your skin. Regular vinegar may also be use, provided you can stand the odor! Lemon or lime juice can also be substituted for vinegar. The citric acid works as an excellent exfoliate to help you get rid of acne.

Egg Whites - The protein rich egg white can be used to heal affected skin and to absorb excess oil from the skin. Separate an egg, just as you would for baking, then beat the egg white and apply directly to your face. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes, and then rinse the egg off with a clean washcloth.

Oatmeal - Oatmeal absorbs unwanted oil and draws out impurities from deep in your skin. Cook the oatmeal just as you would if you were going to eat it. Let the oatmeal cool, and then rub it over your clean skin. Leave the oatmeal on your face for 15 minutes, and then wipe off with a clean cloth.

Tea Tree Oil - Apply full-strength to acne spots or dilute with jojoba oil to apply to the entire face.

Vitamin B5 - B5 works by helping your body to metabolize fats which would otherwise be later turned into sebum (oil) and excreted through the skin. B5 must be taken in large doses several times a day (2.5g four times a day) for this to be effective.

Aloe Vera - Can prevent scarring, fade marks, and help in healing acne spots.
