We have a bunch of chipmunks in our yard. I first thought they were cute too till I seen on go after a baby bird. I chased it away and picked the bird up which it had some injuries to it from the chipmunk. Now they've been eating up flowers, digging holes in the yard and driving my beagle crazy. We've filled the holes with gravel and dirt & that didn't work, we've even put decon out & that didn't work either. Help!!!! I read your humane ways to gid rid of them so I will try one or all if needed. Thank you.
  • puppyprints May 28, 2012 @ 9:10 pm | delete
I like chipmunks - they are fun to watch. I guess they wouldn't be too fun if they got in the house though.... I like the humane ways - that is great- love the animals.
  • SquidooMBA May 28, 2012 @ 8:23 am | delete
My mother has chipmunks in her yard. So far they are still "cute". Thanks for the informative lens for that day when they become a problem.
  • bloomingrose May 27, 2012 @ 9:25 pm | delete
Very thorough, helpful lens. You had me at "humane." I think chipmunks are very cute - I pinned this to my board "cool critters," but there is a time and a place for every thing. Squidoo Angel Blessed!

We live up in a wooded area and do have problems with chipmunks. These tips are sure to help get rid of them. Thank you so much. Angel Blessings**
  • At wits end! May 27, 2012 @ 12:01 pm | delete
Cute but RUTHLESS!!! Digging under patio dislodging pavers, digging squash and melon seedlings up and killing them, digging up freshly planted seeds and eating them, eating prickly asparagus fern plants. They do not care about 2 owl decoys (actually run past it to get on deck, shower radio (actually hanging ON the pot where it dug up a squash plant), cayenne pepper sprinkled around plants or my two dogs that eliminate around back yard... have tried trap & release in the past and for every 1 chipmunk you see there are probably 150 that you don't! All I did was waste a lot of time & gas and kids worried about abandoned babies starving in a nest somewhere. Trying fox & coyote urine next. If it works I SWEAR I WILL POST!

You need to check my other web page on this topic: Get Rid of Chipmunks - The Final Solution. Sounds like you've just about exhausted the humane methods.
  • Wildlife Lover May 22, 2012 @ 4:46 pm | delete
A chipmunk has burrowed its way into one of our basement window wells - the wells are capped from the top. It has brought in all kinds of leaves and twigs and made a sort of nest that we assume covers the hole from which he popped out of the ground and none of our other window wells have this kind of debris in them. We have seen it climbing the window screen and trying (to no avail) to climb the metal walls of the well. Do we need to rescue it? It came in via tunnel so can't it get out on its own?? Are we really in danger of structural damage if we let him be?
  • vallain May 22, 2012 @ 8:35 pm | delete
If it is trying to climb the metal walls, it might be trapped in there. Can you lift off the cap so it can escape, or put a board down into the well that it can scamper up on?
  • hntrssthmpsn May 22, 2012 @ 10:59 am | delete
Great ideas. Chipmunks are soooo cute, and so destructive! We have more problems with raccoons here. I wonder how *they* feel about fox urine...
  • Susan Russell May 18, 2012 @ 1:46 pm | delete
Ultrasonic devices are totally ineffective in my experience
  • tomazg May 11, 2012 @ 7:50 am | delete
Luckily I don't have problems with chipmunks. The look really cute.

I have a family of chipmunks that love my pond rocks for a home. Not so bad, right? Well, they have made a hole in the tubing that connects the pumps with the waterfall...a p-i-t-a fix. They steal the bird food, even climbing the metal pole to get to the feeder. And they dig under my back stoop and under the fieldstone patio. I managed to stop this digging with mothballs (I hope), at least the part I can see. Cute, cute cute, and great for the cats to watch (cat TV, as we call it) but a bit pesky. Will try the fox urine around my pond and see if that keeps them away.
  • tony-oliver May 16, 2012 @ 10:19 am | delete
use a 5 gallon bucket half full of water sprinkle bird seed on top put a board up to the top sprinkle it with bird seed . They will jump inand drown themselves. I know it sounds bad but you will get rid of them for good.

  • Tolovaj Apr 8, 2012 @ 10:32 am | delete
Chipmunks are cute animals to watch but nasty to deal with them. Thanks for the tips, I hope I'll never have to use them:)

    I too believe that one can establish a good rapport with any life-form;
    If we were to recognize them as beings like us, with traits to conform;
    In congenial domains, revel together, in tandem as we try to saunter;
Be guided by kindness in situations, when the requisite is to counter.

  • shelelynn Mar 23, 2012 @ 4:22 pm | delete
although chipmunks are cute we have had seven plus in our house. They destroyed the wiring in the refrigerator and it could not be repaired. I have tried several different approaches, i have trapped and released them, i have three cats who help remove them. The cat urine does not work as we have had two chipmunks found sitting on top of the litter box. Moth balls seem to be the most effective.
  • Wendy O. Mar 19, 2012 @ 12:43 pm | delete
I have them burrowing under my front walk (pavers) so that the pavers are all sinking and the walk is uneven enough to be a hazard. Just found a new hole this week and have a huge pile of the sand that they used under the walk way, piled in the middle of my flower bed where the chipmunks pushed it out. I wouldn't mind the critters, but I'm worried about someone taking a bad fall on my uneven walk.
  • Katdog Mar 16, 2012 @ 1:06 pm | delete
They are cute but we have had to redo our stairs as they dug underneath, our stone wall, got into dryer vent, dug into window well of basement, and under roots of bushes. If they would come eat bird seed off ground and runaway that would be fine. !

This probably doesn't count as humane but I have a pack of barn cats and we have no chipmunks, or squirrels. Also thins out the little birdie population though too. :( Lots of good ideas to try. Blessed.
  • DebMartin Nov 19, 2011 @ 6:05 pm | delete
I love chipmunks. They hang out and keep me company during my time at fish camp. They have learned my patterns and always know when to show up for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Thanks for providing humane options for those who are bothered by them.
  • ElleDeeEsse Nov 19, 2011 @ 5:28 pm | delete
These are so cute I can't imagine them being a nuisance. My parents had issues with bandicoots and tried all sorts of ways to deter them. I suggested enjoying their presence since their only real crime was digging holes in the lawn
  • Biko May 6, 2012 @ 7:38 am | delete
I love chipmunks and have rescued a good many but they can be very destructive to homes so realism is important. Thanks for the list of deterrents, we just want to keep them away from the things they destroy like insulation and piping.
  • Ruthi Nov 18, 2011 @ 4:17 pm | delete
No chipmunk issues for me ... I love the furry little critters! I can watch them scurry around for hours.
  • thomasaden Nov 15, 2011 @ 5:50 am | delete
Chipmunks are really cute creature. But on the same time they can be dangerous due to some diseases like rabies so one should be more careful of them. Chipmunks are small animals not insects so we should not kill them but try to take them away from our premises. This lens is really rich in information about doing this.
  • skiesgreen Nov 10, 2011 @ 10:45 pm | delete
They look cute from a distance but I can sure see the problem. We don't have chipmunks but the galahs chew up houses along the eastern side of Australia and they squawk like crazy. Guess we are in their natural habitat after all. Nice lens and I wonder how you collect red fox urine or do people have it naturally around their house?
  • andreaberrios Oct 24, 2011 @ 12:10 pm | delete
Very nice lens.. I like the approach, I love the chipmunks!
  • mrducksmrnot Oct 20, 2011 @ 12:50 pm | delete
As I grew up with a 1600 acre wooded backyard the little chipmunk was always my friend and would always alert me to other dangers. I really like your idea of humane removal. Try to catch several before relocating so you keep the family or partial family intact. After all Dave never isolated Alvin from his brothers (:>)) A great lens .
  • gardener Oct 17, 2011 @ 6:27 pm | delete
I now resort to the non-humane approach.
  • gottaloveit Oct 13, 2011 @ 5:48 am | delete
I'm having a heck of a time dealing with these little critters again. Seems like my allowing the first one free feed at the bird feeder spread the word. They're fighting off the birds AND raccoons now!
  • ModernChakra Oct 5, 2011 @ 8:17 pm | delete
I currently live in an apartment, but my parents house is just a few blocks away and when I go and visit, my father is always going on about the chipmunks and how he is wages a war against them... Hopefully next year it will be a battle of wits and he can use this page as a guideline to humanely take care of the problem. I personally like the little guys...emailing this along.
  • feliciasfavs Sep 22, 2011 @ 3:24 am | delete
It's really funny how mothballs not only repel chipmunks and moths but humans too! Spent the whole day cleaning out someone's closet with 2 opened boxes of mothballs. I'll leave that up to your imagination.

Just this weekend I was telling my husband that our friendly chipmunks that..yes..are adorable..are getting a bit to at home...one burrows under the front of our house...we live in a non-traditional home I'd call it, a log cabin that was once a summer home turned year round, so doesn't have the kind of foundation most homes do. They perch on the high rock on my rock wall around the garden close to the house and do their non-stop chirping thing. We have been thinking mice are climbing about behind walls...and they may be, but I'm wondering if it's our "cute" chipmunks. I love animals, so may have to try some of your remedies...the population on our property has increased. They do help out by cleaning up so many of the maple tree seeds...amazing how many they can fit in their cheeks.

Great lens with advice we need because the chipmunks are everywhere, cute but destructive. Will try some of your suggestions first and hope they work because we do not like killing animals. Thank you for sharing your knowledge about this serious problem affecting many homeowners everywhere!
  • Bergen Aug 30, 2011 @ 7:18 pm | delete
The chipmunks have left sink holes and tunnel depressions all over my paved driveway. Now they are moving under the foundation of the garage. Don't mind sharing the garden with them, but this is enough. Have way too many chipmunks for traps (plus I really don't want to handle them) so will try a combo of ultrasonic pest repellent, scent repellant and owl/hawk decoys. This is a great site and glad to have found so many ways that don't require killing them. Hope it works.
  • Showpup Aug 29, 2011 @ 10:10 pm | delete
My barn attracts the little critters since I have a lot of grain bags in there. My barn cats do a pretty good job but they are so cute that I feel bad.

When I lived in Indiana the chipmunks used to dig under the front porch and were a real pest.

I tried everything, including putting mouse traps in the entrance to the holes, but the mousetraps just disappeared. I never did find them.

I tried sticking the hose into the hole and pumping water in, but the water went down into the holes and never came out again, so they must have burrowed deep.

In the end I bought a pellet gun, and one day I caught one sitting on a squirrel feeder that was mounted on a maple tree in the back yard. From about 40 feet I aimed my gun, and hit the chipmunk between the eyes. He flinched as if to say "what the..." and then fell to the floor.

I felt bad, and that is actually the only time I fired the gun too. It did put a stop to the digging under the porch, so it worked, but a more humane deterrent would have been preferable.

Funny, we spend every summer for the past few decades taming our cottage chipmunks. They will run through elaborate sand castle mazes to collect sunflower seeds, climb into a pocket for peanuts, and jump onto a mini peanut swing to get their treats. For us they are no pest, simply a summer pleasure!
  • pawpaw911 Aug 26, 2011 @ 7:41 am | delete
Since we don't have any around here, I guess I need 10 ways to attract them. Nice lens.

  • MaxReily Aug 14, 2011 @ 1:15 pm | delete
Unfortunately for the chipmunks, we never have a problem. Our back yard borders a large woods, home of foxes, and even coyotes. There's large owl who perches on our pool deck railing at night--apparently it's a good lookout spot. Sad, because I love chipmunks, and could never bear to kill one, but we never have any in our yard. Great lens--I always vote for humane ways of dealing with animal problems, and you've provided an excellent selection!
  • AgingIntoDisability Aug 14, 2011 @ 3:17 am | delete
Thankfully I haven't had to deal with Alvin and his buddies. I do get frequent visits from squirrels though.
  • BarbRad Aug 13, 2011 @ 11:49 pm | delete
I think I've got ground squirrels, not chipmunks, and they have holes all over the property and decimated last year's vegetable garden so that we got nothing. I'm not sure which of these methods are safe for the vegetables.
  • GrinningFool Aug 12, 2011 @ 10:34 am | delete
Not so much chipmunks here but ground squirrels! Will have to try some of these tips.

I noticed the bottle of fox urine for a deterrent - so, just a question - how the heck do they collect fox urine in such large quantities?
  • ElkieRog Aug 3, 2011 @ 3:54 pm | delete
I could not get the location poll to work. Since there are 0 entries, I suspect that the fault is not mine
  • vallain Aug 4, 2011 @ 8:09 am | delete
I'm guessing they collect it from fox fur farms. Can't think of any other way.
  • Tony Robinson Jul 31, 2011 @ 11:20 am | delete
I have under my house in the crawl space and can hear them chewing at times. They literally chewed through the chicken wire I screwed over the entrance to the crawl space, and vinyl siding. They also have moved a board that placed over the entrance as well (no idea how they could do that one). I have tried a repellent which works for about one day then I hear them again. They have also ate some of my flowers and chewed on my hosta's. I did pour concrete over one burrow they had, there has not been any sign of them burrowing there since then.

  • adamwilliams Jul 22, 2011 @ 2:57 am | delete

Haha! Love tip number 10! I think chipmunks are adorable, but a friend tells me I should fear for my foundation. We tried a powder deterrent (garlic based?). Okay results, but as you mentioned, you have to keep applying it and it gets pricey. We have a big white furry deterrent but I confess she is not humane.

We used to have one but apparently it left when we had the tree removed.
  • Jenn Jul 9, 2011 @ 7:48 am | delete
We don't find them destructive, but we do find them incredibly annoying when they sit on the window sill of our bedroom and peep for what seems like hours. At 5am, this is not a good thing. Cat pee wouldn't deter them - they walk right past our cat and she watches them go. One of the dogs got one last week but I don't think he meant to kill it because he seemed puzzled when it wouldn't get up to play again. Have lost a couple in the pool also, but that still leaves a good 2 DOZEN of the little monsters left to disturb our rest. Going to try the hot pepper idea today, and maybe an owl or hawk too!! Thanks for the tips!
  • MamaBelle Jul 8, 2011 @ 6:55 am | delete

I have a bunch of chipmunks in my yard and I do think they are cute. In fact, I love to feed some of them with walnuts. Sometimes they will take them from my hand other times they are skittish. One thing is for sure. They LOOOOOVE green tomatoes and actually have the gumption to stare at me while he/she is in my plant on my deck and chomping. :) I pretty much gave up on the idea of having any sort of tomatoes this year.
  • vallain Jul 5, 2011 @ 7:57 am | delete
Maybe try those upside down tomatoes next year and hang them where the chipmunks can't get to them.

No chipmunk problems here. I love chipmunks, and so happy to see all the humane ideas you listed. One thing -- what did you decide to do about your chipmunk problem, and did it work?
  • vallain Jul 2, 2011 @ 9:56 pm | delete
I opted for the havahart trap and over two summers have captured 4 chipmunks, a squirrel and a skunk. Oh, Oh. The trap is supposed to be too small for squirrels and skunks, but guess they like peanut butter enough to squeeze into the smaller trap.
  • phoenix-arizona-friends Jul 2, 2011 @ 8:28 pm | delete
Chipmunks would make a good play-friend for my husky. :)
  • aesta1 Jun 29, 2011 @ 8:17 am | delete
Am just feeding them peanuts now as they're so thin when we come back to the cottage in the spring. They can be a pest but they're now as bad as the raccoon and the squirrels. Kids have so much fun with them.
  • Serj Jun 27, 2011 @ 2:44 am | delete
Although ultrasonic seems most convenient, I'm concerned that they cause problems, such as headaches and what not... Great lens...
  • happynutritionist Jun 25, 2011 @ 12:16 am | delete
No problems at all...I love the little things and we have tons of them. They have made homes in burrows, rocks, and all kinds of little nooks and crannies on our property. They are adorable and do a nice job of filling their little cheeks with the maple seeds that come from the trees and getting rid of them for me. One stands atop a large rock and calls repeatedly - on and on...and on - sometimes I have to tell him to stop...nicely of course:-) Nice page, but I'm keeping my little chippies:-)

No problem with chipmunks but two years ago we had a ground hog and squirrels stealing green tomatoes right in front of me. Urg! I took off as many green tomatoes that I could. The groundhog after that summer we didn't see it any more, but I had burrows in my back yard to prove it. Ha!

We live in the UK and have no chipmunks . In fact I came here by mistake when I was looking for squidoo advice on how to keep the neighbour cats away from our veg garden. However, I enjoyed the lens so much that I got stuck in. Now I wonder if the fox urine will work on cats?
  • Ges Jun 2, 2011 @ 2:48 pm | delete
    Great lens vallain!

I have a Canadian friend who told me about the 'bucket of water' method - of course it couldn't be on your list because it's lethal to the chipmunks but might be of use to someone wanting another method to get rid of chipmunks. Check it out here: http://www.getridofchipmunks.org

It also leaves less mess than the rat-trap method.
  • QuinnWolf Jun 1, 2011 @ 7:24 pm | delete
My dad used to trap them and release them in the forest. The owl thing never really worked for us.
  • BarbaraCasey Jun 1, 2011 @ 11:26 am | delete
We don't have chipmunks, but the squirrels climb on the bird feeder and eat, eat, eat. I've heard of the fox urine cure, but wondered what the Florida (Tampa Bay) heat would do for smelliness.
  • pheonix76 May 30, 2011 @ 8:47 pm | delete
We no longer have chipmunk problems because our neighbors allow their cats to roam about. Unfortunately the cats also kill many birds....
  • Jim May 30, 2011 @ 5:23 am | delete
They wake me up every morning with their constant "chipping". It's so loud and they never shut up.

We don't have chipmunks where I have ever lived. Personally, without knowing that they can be pests I would have loved having them in my garden. Strange old world.

My mom has them in her attic! At first we though is was mice, nope! We are going to try a few of these ideas over the weekend. Thank you!

Thanks for these Ideas. My brother has a chipmunk colony in his backyard. His little boy loves them! I hope one of these ideas will help him get rid of a few of them! Nice numbering of your ideas too!

One of my friends was having chipmunk problems, she called animal control and they did a catch and release. The little furry guy was driving her crazy.

I answered these questions for my daughter's problem with chipmunks eating her garden...they even eat jalapenos with no problem. They are cute, and she has such a soft heart toward animals (like i do) so I'm going to pass this link along to her for future reference. Gardens are growing like mad right now. Thanks for sharing.

Something is getting into my flowerpots. Not sure if it is chipmonks or squirrels. Either way, I wish they would stop. I have seen more chipmunks this year than in the previous 7 years I have lived here. That can't be a good sign! Haven't found a very effective deterent yet. I may have to try one of these hawk decoys. I think it is a good idea. I like the fox urine also. Maybe I'll try that too. Thanks! Great lens!
  • gottaloveit May 18, 2011 @ 7:23 am | delete
Virginia: I have a resident chipmunk who is driving my Australian Shepherd crazy. I'm doing to try and get a video of him herding it and will send it over. Really funny to watch.

I am going to try the mothballs. We have 3 chipmunks that are always around... of course, we named them Symon, Theodore & Alvin!! They like to get into our garage & burrough into anything they can; they do make a mess!!! When they can't get into the garage they live under our deck or shed. They are cute, but are a problem. Have to use a humane way to get rid of them!
  • Grammy Braz Apr 29, 2011 @ 3:51 pm | delete
Love our squirrels!!! Couldn't use anything that would chase them away!!
  • Liz May 3, 2011 @ 3:44 pm | delete
Mothballs SHOULD NOT BE USED as a deterrent for anything but moths in a tightly sealed environment. Used in landscaping to deter "critters" they can easily be ingested by pets which will quickly poisen them - causing organ damage which may prove fatal.
  • gottaloveit Apr 29, 2011 @ 8:46 am | delete
I just used your suggestion and used moth balls - worked like a champ! Chipmunks have moved on. Now, what to do about squirrels??
  • vallain May 1, 2011 @ 12:50 pm | delete
One important thing to remember with the moth balls. Don't put them where you will be breathing. They are a carcinogen.
  • mattseefood Apr 28, 2011 @ 8:40 pm | delete
This is a really fun lens! No problems with chipmunks here though :)
  • GrowWear Apr 25, 2011 @ 9:27 pm | delete
Whew! They can make a mess of the flowers getting down in the pots and wallowing around in the dirt breaking limbs and buds and such. And they are sooo cute... The humane route for sure. Been wondering about those ultrasonic repellers...
  • Margo_Arrowsmith Apr 7, 2011 @ 8:20 pm | delete
They are so cute, but you are nice about them.
  • Upon-Request Apr 5, 2011 @ 10:22 pm | delete
I have to say I don't live in an area that is problematic when it comes to chipmunks, just scorpions, snakes and coyotes. Although I'm sure it's no fun to have to deal with them, they're still cuter than a snake or scorpion!
  • gottaloveit Mar 26, 2011 @ 6:20 am | delete
We have these little cute guys all over - my dogs are the best deterrent ever. Great ideas here though. Wouldn't have thought of filling the holes with foam. Would take forever over here though!
  • scarlettohairy Mar 9, 2011 @ 11:34 pm | delete
What interesting ways to get rid of unwanted critters. I see the owls on houses all the time. They must work!
  • fanfreluche Feb 24, 2011 @ 7:21 am | delete
Excellent resource! The owls seem more effective against chipmunks than they are against those pesky pigeons. I couple of years ago, we had a pigeons trouble and the owls did not do the trick.....those pigeons used them as perch!! My neighbor manage to get ride of them...but I am pretty sure it was not in a very nice way :(
  • Othercat Feb 23, 2011 @ 11:36 pm | delete
One question. Does the fox urine repel dogs and cats too?
  • vallain Feb 23, 2011 @ 11:42 pm | delete
It repels animals that fear the fox. I would think dogs would not be bothered by it, but am not sure about cats.

I live the touch of humor of #10! I've laways loved chipmunks and have never had them as an enemy but I know that many folks choose more "permanent" solutions, I like live and let live myself. The live trap and release method is great as long as you don't release them where they will give someone else a problem. Very nicely done!
  • ICanCook Nov 8, 2010 @ 6:06 am | delete
I have Cute Chipmunks too. Lots of them. The only think they do bad is to dig up the bulbs in my garden. Last year I had so much fun watching them because they planted their nuts in my front garden and my husband put down mulch rather early. They couldn't find their nuts and had to dig and dig. I'm not ready to get rid of them unless they start to do something real bad.

I vote for method number 10. You made me laugh out-loud! Not had any problems with chipmunks but gophers (small kind) does destroy the yards from time to time. It's really bad when new construction happens. I have been told that these little guys come in the dirt loads that are dump at the new construction site.
  • livingfrontiers Oct 24, 2010 @ 11:13 pm | delete
Great lens! We have had chippies for years, even with foxes and cats everywhere! They would announce their whereabouts all the time with a startling cheep-cheep! We then used the havahart trap, with peanuts, and captured them all. 19 to be exact. They were all safely and humanely relocated to an outlaying county park, and we used the foam to seal of the houses. Now we have a stray once and awhile, but no uninvited guests.

Actually, our problem is with squirrels on the bird feeders. They're having a great meal...there are too many to even think of getting rid of them (we live in suburbia) but we are working on ways to keep them off the birdfeeders.

So pleased to see these humane ways to get rid of chipmunks. My only Chipmunk encounter was in the hotel I stayed in on Mount Ranier - it was running up and down my leg as I read a book by a log fire in the public area!
  • vallain Sep 19, 2010 @ 12:45 pm | delete
I bet someone had been feeding them. It's amazing how fearless they can be.

I think I'll go straight to number 10! I'd give a little piece of garden and lawn to a few of these cute boogers running around.

I'd be so delighted to see a chipmunk that getting rid of them wouldn't be my first thought, but I can well believe it might be my second once I saw the damage they can do. Thumbs up for the human solutions.

Great tips, especially the ultrasonic sounds device...I always thought it would affect our cat...so this is great to know
  • mulberry Aug 30, 2010 @ 3:01 am | delete
Good tips, I'm sure they can be nuisance. Our method is foolproof (though less humane). We have 3 cats and they walk patrol several times a day. I'm sure there was a life taken at some point, but apparently the word got out.

We have chipmunks coming into the cabin and pooping and peeing everywhere! I was surprised to learn they are doing this mostly at night. I didn't think they were nocturnal. I have a dog and she does deter them when we are here for several days, but when we leave, the party begins all over! Help!
  • vallain Aug 14, 2010 @ 4:02 pm | delete
Kathie, you can use the Havahart trap inside a house. I caught a chipmunk just today with a Havahart. I used crushed peanuts stuck on some Crisco to lure it into the cage.
Also look at the ultrasonic gadgets I have listed. Read the description carefully to be sure it won't bother your dog.
  • Pukeko Aug 8, 2010 @ 6:52 am | delete
No chipmunks in New Zealand, so I don't have this problem. But it was interesting and beautifully presented. Love the numbered zazzle products. I thought the ultrasonic was the most interesting.
  • Rinchen Chodron Jul 4, 2010 @ 3:53 pm | delete
I'm not having problems. They definitely are here at the condo and I think my neighbors feed them. They actually don't bother me. But I did appreciate this great lens!
  • grannysage Jun 23, 2010 @ 8:43 pm | delete
Chipmunks were my friends when I was little and I had one that ate out of my hand. The next door neighbor had a feeding station at his back door. So I don't think we would have needed to try these measures. We have squirrels now, who argue with the cats over who owns the yards. But maybe I could develop a sideline business of selling used cat littler. Now there's a money making idea! Great lens.
  • jptanabe Jun 23, 2010 @ 2:37 pm | delete
Cute lens to deal with those cute chipmunks! I have to say our biggest chipmunk problem arose when one of our cats discovered a chipmunk nest. She carefully brought half a dozen baby chipmunks into our house one by one! My daughter helped me gather them up and put them in our old hamster cage. Then we took them to a person who specialized in caring for wildlife (I'd just read an article about her in the local paper).
  • LindaJM Jun 22, 2010 @ 8:03 pm | delete
What an adorable lens! ...and VERY helpful! I don't have chipmunks or other rodents here, but I'll keep this in mind in case the problem ever comes up. You taught me a lot! I'm blessing your lens. ...and I'm going to add this to my Creative Lensmaking lens... because I love the way you used Zazzle products for your graphics. Very colorful... and cool!
