The guests that never leave: How to get rid of unwanted spirits in your home
Do you have unwanted spirits in your home?
Based on ancient pagan festivals when people believed witches and spirits roamed the earth, Halloween has become a fun time for many people throughout the world. We dress as ghouls and witches among other scary things, trick-or-treat, and attend costume parties. We scare ourselves with ghost stories, scary movies, and haunted houses. Unfortunately for some people, the spirits are not make-believe. Unnerving at best and downright frightening and menacing at worst, people throughout the ages have experienced ghosts or unwanted spirits in their homes.
The following is a discussion of the variety of methods that have been developed to rid homes of unwanted spirits.

Crystal Cleansing
Crystals or quartz have long been believed to have healing powers and the ability to protect. There are many books written on how to cleanse crystals to envoke their powers, how to use them for healing the body and mind, and how to use them to cleanse and protect your home.Cobalt blue crystals are believed to draw the Archangel Michael who is the protector of persons and the home.

Smudging or Burning Sage
One popular way to rid your home of unwanted spirits is called smudging. Smudging basically involves taking a large clump of sage and lighting the ends so they start to produce smoke. The person then proceeds through the house waving the smoking sage briefly in every corner of each room. The person may also tell the spirits to leave as they are doing this, or repeat chants or prayers to cleanse the home.(Image courtesy of WP Clipart, in the public domain)

Rituals
One can also find various rituals that can be performed to cleanse and protect your home. These can involve prayers or chants, sound vibration, ceremonies, or even annointing each window and door with blessed oil.(Protection image is in the Public Domain, Pagan Clip Art )
Demanding they leave
Sometimes all it takes to rid your home of unwanted spirits, is to firmly tell them to leave. It is most important that you stay positive in your thoughts and not succumb to fear. Demand that this is your home and they are not welcome. Tell them it is time to move on, and that people are waiting to guide them to the other side where they will be at peace.
Hire Ghost Chasers or Psychic Team
"Who ya gonna call...Ghostbusters" was a popular line from the movie Ghostbusters. Some people are so terrorized by the unwanted spirits or negative energy they feel in their home, that as a last resort they will call in a team of ghost chasers or a team of psychics to try to reclaim their home. A lot of people think these type of teams just make for good TV drama and are entirely ineffective. One of the videos below will make that claim. - I think we have a spirit who smokes cigarettes at night in our spare room, when we open the door in the morning it smells like smoke but not every morning, nobody sleeps in that room we just close the door at night to keep the dogs of the bed, all to weird...Great lens

- this depend on religion and belief. in Islam, these methods never work. the ghost are actually djin who lives in another world. they can see us bu twe cant. Keep yourself close to God and pray a lot.

- My friend has a ghost named Otis, a friendly spirit however. Otis never caused harm but was a real prankster, sometimes would rearrange furniture. That was many moons ago, yet years later I told some of them to my kids and then so whenever something strange happened like the wind would blow a door and make a loud slam, we'd say 'aw, don't worry - that's just Otis' Fortunately I have never encountered unwanted spirits (beyond my evil ex) and hope I never do.

- Very cool lens. I have found that sometimes things will work and sometimes they don't. It seems to depend on the spirit.
