Great Lens. I have some lenses as well which direct people to FREE books including one of my own - The Diary of Moses Jenkins.

I love going on Amazon.com and checking out all the free books. It's a real treat and so was this lens. Thanks for pointing out some books and places to find them. I would appreciate it if you could possibly take a look at my lens about a fantasy novel? If not I completely understand. Have a great New Year!

I still love to hold a real book in my hands. I have yet to try a Kindle or ebook reader. Will check out the websites, though.

I thought I would never do the eBook thing, then my boss bought me one. I really like it! No more handcramping trying to hold the pages back. But I will always love actual books.

Over the last few years I've found myself reading many more e-books, perhaps high def monitors have made them easier to view. I'm off to visit a few of your lists.

Very interesting lens!! I believe another great link would be webfictionguide.com. There's some great legitimate free fiction there!!

Nice to see a lens that brings some important issues into the open for discussion, of primary concern to myself, as I am nearing the release of my first ebook, was the link to Baen Free Library as it mimics part of my arguments for liberalization and diversification of titles as detailed here

I just visited Noadi's art and you definitely are an artist. You have some beautiful pieces. I think our sponsors here at Squidoo should buy your squid sculpture for one off their offices! Thanks for the rapid reply.

Well 90% of the stuff I've listed is in the public domain, meaning it's copyright has expired all the rest like the Baen Free Library have been released with the consent of the authors for free. I'm an artist, I understand worries about copyright so I'd never encourage downloading a book that the author doesn't want released for free.
  • JacobSaul Oct 9, 2008 @ 4:40 pm | delete
Like many would be authors I was concerned about all this free stuff: how would it affect my future income if I ever sold anything? Wouldn't it encourage the sense of entitlement that leads people to condone theft and copyright infringement? Then, I read the introduction to the Baen Free Library you've listed above. Eric Flint's argument was cogent and persuasive.

    Thanks for making this available.
