When you practice meditations on a daily basis, you are better equipped with more balanced emotions to help you deal with the stresses of your daily life. Everyone has some feelings of tension that do cause stress in the body, which in turn can cause a large number of illnesses and medical conditions.Guided meditation is one of the best ways to clear these thoughts from your mind and to gain a deeper understanding of the situations that arise in your daily life so that you can deal with them more effectively. It helps to free our minds of negativity, which can cause us to react impulsively and to feel tense.
Being able to practice meditations effectively requires practice. You will not instantly be able to rid your mind of disturbing thoughts by simply letting them flow through your breathing. You do need to concentrate on the positive, rather than the negative in order to create a change in your way of thinking about the world.

When you start meditating you may have certain expectations about what you will achieve through your meditations. You should put these aside and don't worry about getting it right. While there are no hard and fast rules about meditating, there are a few guidelines of which you should be aware.
You should not try to force things to happen during your meditation session or spend time analyzing each thought that comes into your mind. While the goal is to let your mind go blank, this will only come with increased practice and is not something you should concentrate on.
Most people do their meditations early in the morning before they have breakfast. This is not essential, though, and if you feel hungry, you should have something to eat just to keep the hunger pangs from interfering with the meditation. You do need to have a quiet place for meditating and you have to be comfortable.
Once you start experimenting with the various positions, it will take time before you are able to sit in the same position for any length of time. Beginners should aim for ten minute sessions at first and as they get more used to the position, they will be able to sustain it for longer periods until they can finally meditate for 20 or 30 minutes at a time.
