No, really, do you use your loan for living expenses as well as tuition?
Usually, after your first semester of school, and the financial aid nightmare you had to muddle through, you figure it out.
Your student loan can maintain you through out college. It is a low-interest loan, probably the lowest you will ever get in your lifetime for that amount of funding.
However, the power of interest is very overwhelming. College debt is a major reason why graduating students have a headstart on financial difficulty so be prepared to start making interest only payments if you can BEFORE you graduate from school. You need a form of income to keep this debt from growing on you.

You need to understand all the different rates you could pay for your student loan and when you will need to pay them.
While included in the term "financial aid" higher education loans differ from scholarships and grants in that they must be paid back. They come in several varieties in the United States:
*Federal student loans made to students directly: No payments while enrolled in at least half time status. If a student drops below half time status, the account will go into its 6 month grace period. If the student re-enrolls in at least half time status, the loans will be deferred, but when they drop below half time again they will no longer have their grace period. *Federal student loans made to parents: Much higher limit, but payments start immediately
*Private student loans made to students or parents: Higher limits and no payments until after graduation, although interest will start to accrue immediately. The payday company gets their money directly out of your checking account that you use to have your payroll or other income direct deposited to. They are not going to be able to help you a whole lot if you don't have the money right now to pay all your minimum balances. I have seen a lot of "don't file bankruptcy, we can help you" type ads to scare people away from filing and I wish people would investigate all their options.
I am not personally recommending that you avoid these firms at all. What I am getting across to you is that you have to make an informed choice. Do you want a plan so you feel better about your credit card debt that will pay it down over a period of about 2 to 3 years, not saving you money but saving your sanity, OR, do you want to have a fresh slate with few credit worries but your credit worthiness may be ruined for 5-10 years. If you cannot pay off some of your debts immediately, this is what you are what you are ultimately facing.
Maybe to some "bankruptcy" is a bad word, but big corporations (including one of Trump's according to Rosie) do it! People also do make some satisfactory workout deals with their creditors if they are diligent and good negotiators.
