Muscle Burns FAT!

Ok, it's an idea worth exploring...hang with me for a few minutes.

My experience says YES, Muscle Burns Fat!

Is it as simple as some would have us believe? 'Build Muscle to Lose Fat!!'
In truth, that's something of an exaggeration. The way to burn fat is the ACTIVITY of building muscle.

The amount of calories (energy) expended over time x the level of effort used= Fat Burned. And there's the added benefit of the metabolic shift that happens when we 'stoke the fire' with exercise.

But, maybe like you, I've tried dieting with some success, only to be followed with a return to more fat...low calorie, portion control, low carb...blah blah blah.

ONLY when I changed to a healthy program of diet combined with an incredibly strong exercise program did I really begin to experience the Life Changing Body Transformation that I'd always been seeking.

So what was this magic combination? Was it instant? Did it happen in a week or 2 weeks?? Did I lose 15 pounds in 15 days???

Not exactly. Though Fat Has Been BURNED! And burned well.

But here's my full story...

I was sitting up late one night, watching another one of those infomercials. I guess I was really tired. Too tired to change the channel!

Another one of these 'exercise gurus' was on...talking about muscle, and how to build it. And how muscle burns fat. I'd certainly heard that before...but building muscle has been elusive for me. Or maybe I just haven't tried hard enough. Too busy! Whatever.

But man-oh-man these folks looked GREAT. Fit, happy, high energy. They shared their stories that sounded awfully familiar...overweight, tired, sick of feeling like there was nothing to do about the way they looked and felt...

And their "BEFORE" pictures were close to what I saw when I looked in the mirror: bloated, pudgy, even downright FAT. Yuck.

And this guy, Tony Horton, who created it?? As we say in New York...

FUGGEDABOUDIT.

Amazing body, and he's 45!!!

My mind began to race...maybe my 'I'm getting older..." excuse was BUNK.

I went to check them out online...and THEN realized I could also become a distributor for them...and GET PAID TO GET FIT AND LOSE WEIGHT!

Long story short: I bit! I bought!! P90X was delivered to my front door!! AUUGGGHHHH!

I was terrified. Afraid to start, because I was afraid I wouldn't finish. The CDs sat on my dining room table for a week...I just kept looking at them, thinking about them...

Truth be told, I've learned a lot about building muscle- my diet's different, my body is most certainly different. But I began to realize that "FAT" was not only in my body, it was also in my mind...in my approach to the way I wasn't taking things in my Life by the horns!

I was doing a whole LOTTA things inefficiently: eating, exercising, balancing my work with pleasure, and even building my business. You see, I work at home, and it's easy to get sloppy when your boss isn't standing over you...in fact, I don't even HAVE a boss.

So, fast forward...

I'm now working out like a maniac. In a good, steady, healthy way. P90X is the real deal. I even had to spend a few weeks 'building up' to trying it. More for my own head than anything...

I tried a workout that felt more comfortable, called Turbo Jam. Also awesome! Chalene Johnson has created a really fun, easy to follow, but seriously effective workout, and it gave me the impetus to start on P90X.

In fact, for the first few weeks, I couldn't even FAKE the ab workout on P90X, so I'd do Chalene's Turbo Ab routine. It rocks!

But I digress...

Muscle and Fat. What am I getting at here??

Well, that there's body fat, and there's LIFE fat. Tony Horton says that FAT is unburned fuel.

So what? Well. As my body fat began to fall away...and I realized how much EFFORT it was taking...Efficient, Focused Effort...I thought: 'Boy, if I did this in other parts of my life...like my Business!?? Wow..."

Read this quote from Tony- who created P90X, by the way:

"Weight lifting does so much more than build pecs and biceps. It causes the body to burn calories all day long and even while you sleep. It protects joints from wear and tear. Bones become denser and less prone to injury. Strength training reduces body fat, arthritic pain, and muscle loss as we age. It increases metabolism and lowers the risk of diabetes because it improves insulin sensitivity."

And now let me translate:

"Efficient Focused Activity in Business does so much more than pay the bills and put food on the table. It causes the Business to generate Income all day long and even while you sleep. It protects this income from marketplace wear and tear. Residual Income becomes denser and less prone to injury. Strength of Correct Decisions reduces Life Fat, Emotional Pain, and Quality of Life Loss as we age. It increases the Speed of Return and lowers the risk of diabetes because we're not eating sugar in response to stress!"

Ok, the end was a stretch...but you get my drift. I'm being kinda funny, but to be honest, this has been a true change in me and my attitude.

I'm cutting the fat out. Not by magic. By focused effort. By intentional action.
