Getting fit outside of a gym with Teamsports
Team sports are a great way to exercise, the problem is that the older you get you have a harder time finding clubs or places to play sports. Actually this is just an urban myth and you can play teamsports, no matter how old you are, maybe not on a professional level, but on a level that will keep you fit and most important, you can have some fun and meet people with similar interests.
Teamsports
The older you get the harder it will be to take real action in sports like american football, rugby or something similar. Possible, but just harder and somehow it's prone to injuries.
The interesting part is that those injuries usually seem to come from too much competition to impress others, rather than the lack of physical fitness.
Here are some great teamsports to get fit accompanied with great links, general advice and where to find people close to you who are interested in the same sport.
The advantages of Teamsports
- Training with people who are interested in the same sport
- additional motivation due to the competition
- When you play in a club you have some fixed training times
- social interaction
- The possibility to play in a league/tournament and compete with other teams
- Increase your social Network
- Drop your weight with the help of others

In almost every city or town are public playgrounds where you can go and shoot some hoops, you can meet up with friends or hook up with people on the court when you know how to shoot a basket.

Football - Why should you kick a ball?
Football, aka Soccer in America, is a great sport, that's not as hard as american football and can be played even when you are older. As with every teamsport there is the chance for an injury, but it's a fun passtime where you can meet friends, have a blast and a good training at once.

Baseball / Softball - Beat that ball

Ice Hockey - Ready to take a punch?
Ice Hockey is one of the coolest sports to watch, and in case you know how to play it or have some friends to play it this is great.. the best part is you don't necessarily need ice to play this, you can go for inline hockey or ordinary hockey as well. Still ice hockey is the king of all sports, it's tough and it's the fastes team sport to be played. The bad news is, the older you get the harder this sport becomes, the physical contact lead to injuries pretty fast, and like american football this is something that may still be fun, but can become dangerous to your health.

Bowling - Get fit with striking
A lot of people don't think that bowling is a sport, but every regular activity that does not place your butt on a chair behind your desk is great. Bowling is one of the fun things you can do with friends and while you are at it you can create a Team and play against other people. It's all about fun and enjoying yourself. Just make sure that you don't consume too much soda or beer, that's just against the whole idea of getting fit.
Bowling - Fun for young and old
