Get Fleas Off Cats

I love cats. They are absolutely wonderful pets, but the fleas they can attract are something nobody wants. Especially your cat!

Fleas are horrible little pests. They can infest your home and make your pet (and you!) miserable with their biting, disease carrying habits. If you are not familiar with the pests, it can seem completely out of control when you have a flea problem in your home. But not to worry! Flea problems CAN be eliminated and it really is not that difficult to do!

First off, wash your pet's bedding. A good washing machine cycle on HOT should get the bedding free of fleas and their eggs.

Secondly, bomb your home with a good flea killing 'bomb'. These are products that you set up in your home, usually a few of them, depending on the size of your space, and they fill your home with a flea killing fog that the fleas just can not escape. A good fogger will not leave a residue of any kind. Sure, you must empty the living space of any living things (cover fish tanks) and leave for a few hours but the stuff works like magic. Open windows when you return and let the place air out. This is the hardest part of flea control and even it is not very difficult to do....and I promise you, the fleas will be dead! A good product will not leave a residue of any kind, but read the directions carefully.

Next, purchase some Frontline Flea Control for cats. Be sure that it is for CATS and not dogs. Cats lick themselves, dogs do not, therefore you must ONLY use cat products on your cat. The use of any other product will poison your pet.

Veterinarians will carry this product, as will animal product catalogs and websites. This is, by far, the greatest friend you will ever have in your flea control army. I have had pets my whole life, and until Frontline came out with their product several years ago, flea control was a bit more challenging for me.

Follow the directions on the package and put the Frontline on your cat. The liquid is placed on the skin, at the shoulder blades, and eventually moves down the cat's coat, in the natural oils in the skin, to keep fleas off your pet.

Depending on where you live, you may have to do several applications a year on your pet, to keep fleas under control. This stuff really does work!

You can purchase Frontline at most veterinarian's offices, but I usually find it at a better price at animal product catalogs online.
