7 Tips to Increase Your Marketing With Squidoo

So you have either just created a brand new website or you have an older website but it is not generating the kind of traffic and results you would like. Have you tried using Squidoo? I became a giant squid at the end of June 2008 and so I have quite a bit of knowledge and experience about how to use squidoo to generate traffic to your website or websites. Here are seven secrets you can apply immediately to help you increase your web traffic using squidoo.

1. Create a wide variety of lenses. Although it is completely fine and necessary to create a couple of lenses which are focused specifically on your business, you also need to create some lenses focused on your hobbies, famous people, TV shows and other topics which have nothing to do with your business. These other lenses will attract a different kind of traffic and market and will introduce people to your business who may not have been searching for a business when they found you but who may become curious by what you have to offer.
2. Make sure to include links to your various websites in your lenses by mixing them into your content. It also helps if you can find some way of making the link relevant to the topic of the lens.
3. Include links to other useful and relevant blog posts, and websites. You need to make each lens a useful resource for the topic and not just a collection of material about and by you. They must contain information by others as well.
4. Keep your lenses updated and fresh. Each lens should be updated at least twice a month. It is not necessary to completely redo the lens. A quick two minute change of the titles, a few tags or adding one link is all that is needed.
5. Keep your lenses short and too the point. Adding more than 15 modules to any given lens will make it harder to read and a lens that is too long looses the interest of its readers before they reach the end of the lens.
6. Make sure to include at least 6 modules in each lens. Just like you do not want your lens to be too long, it also must not be too short. There is a minimum amount of information you must include in order for it to be interesting and helpful to your readers.
7. Include a guestbook at the end of each lens and invite reader comments. Ask questions through the lens that encourage your readers to think about your topic and to share their thoughts and feelings with you.

Know that being successful on squidoo takes time but it is well worth it. Learn from those of us who are giant squids and remember practice makes perfect.
