Being active on forums is a great way to get traffic to your site.
Do you have a website or business that you are marketing? Or maybe you have a nice new Squidoo lens you want to promote. How do you get traffic to your site?
I get 80% of my traffic from forums. The secret is to NOT advertise your business. First of all that is spamming and second it is a huge turnoff. Let your signature be your advertisement.
Being Active on Forums is a Great Way to generate traffic to your site.
I love mlm forums and I have to tell you this is my #1 traffic builder. Here are a few tips for success.
Here's what works for me. Pick out 3 to 5 forums that you really like. (I visited around 20 different forums until I found a match). Then what you do is visit those same 3 to 5 forums everyday. Being active it key. You can't post just once and expect to have leads.
Be active. It is all about building relationships. So visit often and post good content. When you respond to posts, respond with a real answer from your heart. Don't just say something, like... Nice post.
When you post good content, people will likely visit your profile as well as click the link in your signature.
Lets talk about your profile
When people click on your profile, they want to know WHO YOU ARE. So show them by putting up a picture of YOU and please use your real name. Most people don't do this and they are really missing out on great google traffic. Also write about who you are and why people should connect with you. Be sure to post your website link here.

Your Signature
Don't ever post a blatant add or put your website link in your post.
Instead post good content and have your link in your signature.

When you write good content it will create curiosity and people will want to learn more about you. They will either click the link in your signature or they will visit your profile page.

Squidoo (naturally), article marketing (good old fashioned and longterm) and yes forums. You just have to watch out because one can spend quite a few hours in forums, so just try and balance all of your time. Rule of thumb give, give, give, help, help, help it will all come back to you. remember it is all about relationships.

Forums I visit are about topics similar to my lenses, due to the fact both the forums and the lenses are about topics I am interested in. I'm a member on more than 300 forums, most are for costume makers, authors, writers, artists, comic book fans, etc. I never post links to my lenses in a post (unless someone posted asking "How can I find such and such lens you made?") I have 5 lenses (on topic for the forum in question) in my sig, and than I just yap away talking to every one on the forum, making new friends and just having fun. Nearly all of my traffic comes from people clicking on the links in my sigs on forums

I do belong to several forums. I'm going to get my lenses put in my email siggy. I know that will help to. I visit tons of others lenses, web sites, and do have a few websites that list my lens and i do the same. I'm kinda new to the generating for traffic but as i say i read a lot here and have learned sooo much.
