First, with today's tough housing market you must price your timeshare competitively if you really want to sell it. Start off by checking the prices of other recent sales at your resort, and then ask resale brokers for a pricing opinion on your unit. This will give you a good ballpark price.
Second, try inexpensive advertising methods to sell your unit. It's a great idea to advertise your timeshare at your resort, such as on their public bulletin board, club or newsletter. This will get your advertisement in front of renters, very good prospects for your timeshare.
Third, consider working with a timeshare resale brokers. This is the route that I went to get my timeshare sold in a week. Work with licensed real estate brokers, who typically charge a commission on the sale. I was hesitant to work with agents that wanted upfront money, but your experience may vary.
There are lots of timeshare scams to look out for so be careful. Some shady agents might ask for upfront money to do an appraisal, which really shouldn't be necessary to list a timeshare for sale. Another know scam is when companies say they want to buy your timeshare but first want you to get an appraisal from an independent appraisal company that they recommend for a kick-back. My advice is to pay for performance, which means a commission on the sale just like a normal house or condo.
