How to Make Motivation a Habit?
In today's fast-paced and pressurized world, none of us are exempt from stress. Pretty much all of us have to deal with some level of stress in our lives.
Stress can cause us to fill our minds with negative thoughts thereby draining our energy and depriving us from getting and staying motivated.
It's a vicious cycle that needs to be broken so it does not fester. An effective way of renewing our minds and changing our thoughts from negative to positive is through visualization and positive affirmations.
In this web page you will understand what motivation is, what are its benefits and how you can make motivation a habit. Also, you will find inspirational and motivational quotes, videos, posters, tips and resources which can be effectively used to stay positive, optimistic and motivated, in life's journey.
"People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily." - Zig Ziglar

What is Motivation?
Understanding Motivation and Tapping into its Power
Let's start by defining it - as per Wikipedia, Motivation is the activation of goal-oriented behavior. In other words, it is the REASON which gives direction to an action. Motivation is generally categorized as intrinsic or extrinsic.
Intrinsic motivation resides within the individual, people are internally motivated to do something because it brings them pleasure. Extrinsic motivation, on the other hand, comes from outside the person like a reward for a job well done.
Basically, we may know how to set and achieve goals, but we will only be motivated if we will feel good about it or are convinced there is an incentive to do so. In the next section, we'll discuss what role Positive Thinking plays on motivation.

The Power of a Positive Attitude
Positive Thinking Motivates You to Continue Your Journey
Motivation and Positive Thinking go hand-in-hand. Positive thinking helps see the reasons that motivate and thereby take action towards a desired goal. So what can we do to keep that positive attitude? Well, actually there are a few SIMPLE things that you can do which will make a BIG difference:
When you're faced with negative situations when working towards your goal(s), it's ok to take some time to pause or even take a step back (i.e. let go). In doing so, you will not react in an emotional state and thereby save yourself more grief. If it was your mistake, it's ok, don't beat yourself up, learn from it. Take a few deep breaths, take some time to reflect and remind yourself that this situation is just temporary.
Get your focus back on your goal(s). When circumstances strike, they often take our focus off our goals. Think back on what was driving you to achieve your goal(s) and get back into that positive mindset.
Set-backs are normal, use it as a stepping stone, not a stumbling block. Rather than looking at how bad things are, focus on how good things will be if you continue on that path of achieving that goal. Focus on the solutions, rather than the problem.
If you need to use visualization techniques to paint a picture in your mind then do so. If reading encouraging quotes helps, do so. Focus on the positive aspect of things, so there is no room for negativity. Be thankful that things could have been worse, but they are not...count your blessings!
"The key to success is to focus our conscious mind on things we desire not things we fear." ~ Brian Tracy

How to Stay Motivated?
Motivation is Key to Your Success
It's a fact that this fast-paced life saps out our energy and motivation as we journey in achieving our goals. It's a challenge to stay positive with all the negative situations we are faced with each day. Even the most motivated of people, feel unmotivated sometimes...it's normal!
These are some of the things that help me stay motivated:
• Know the good reasons why you're doing what you're doing;
• Try to enjoy doing what you're doing and have fun;
• Use visualization techniques to help you see the end result, to stay positive;
• Find inspiration by reading motivational quotes;
• Find monotonous tasks boring? Try different ways of approaching it;
• Break goals into tasks, so you can keep track of your progress;
• Remember that you can't function at an optimal level, all the time (it's normal);
• Learn to take a break, especially if you've been working on a task too long;
• Reward yourself for accomplishing tasks that help you reach your goals;
• Make it a DAILY habit to be thankful and stay positive.
Let me end this section with this quote by Zig Ziglar "People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily." That's true, motivation is temporary and that's the reason why we need to make it a lifestyle.

- I feel that loving myself is key to my motivation or inspiration level. On days when I feel low energy, I take a break and do something for myself. This always works to bring back motivation :)
Great lens!

- I agree, taking care of oneself is important to staying motivated. If you don't feel good, it's difficult to take care of someone else. Stay blessed, loved and motivated! :)

- This is a wonderful lens with some truly great information! I stay motivated by focusing on my family, my children are the reason I get up every morning. It is amazing what a hug from your children can do, they can turn your "I'm having a bad moment" into a "Nothing else matters right now except loving my kids", raising my kids is the best motivation for me.

- I really enjoyed your lens. I think ones motivation changes over time. Currently my motivation is my son. He has so much motivation and passion to become a high school wrestling champion. Helping him get to his goal is not cheap with tournaments, camps, etc., so his passion motivates me to try to accomplish more to help him reach his goals.

- We live in a time of instant gratification. I want it and I want it now. We need to teach our children how to slow down, appreciate what you have and work hard for what you want. This is a wonderful lens about slowing down, being positive and taking the time to "smell the roses". thank you for sharing .

- For many years I got motivated by what I was going to get. After many years of thinking this way, it didn't seem to fulfill me. Then, I started thinking about how what I was doing was going to help others. Thinking from that perspective helps a lot because you don't always get what you want, but you've at least accomplished something by helping somebody else out.
