How to Achieve a Balanced Life

Getting back in balance and regaining my health...

I had a stressful morning. I won't go into details (they are pretty stupid, and most of you probably won't care) but let's just say that it has to do with the dry cleaners and the fact that they lost one of my favorite dresses.

The thing is, I know I'm out of whack. I care about the dress, but come on - I've been home for several hours and my heart is still racing. Something isn't right that's for sure!

I know I need to lose weight, but something else is going on. I thought I'd use this lens as a self discovery tool so you can see what happens when someone gets serious about their health and works on regaining it.

Do you feel unhealthy?

I know I do...

The thing is, I am about five pounds over the high end of normal for my height. Not bad. I am also not particularly unhealthy. I had a stint last year when I got sick with the fever twice, but one was self inflicted (should have thrown the eggs away!) and the other may have been swine flu. I fought both issues off fairly quickly and haven't gotten sick since (and I also hadn't been sick for years before that).

Some of my lab readings were a bit off, particularly my sugar and triglycerides. My cholesterol levels were way too low - a situation I blame on the fact that I was taking liver herbs thinking it would help me drop pounds. Hmm. Interesting. The sugar number isn't good. I'll need to get that under control... but I don't have diabetes and I could definitely turn the situation around.

I think I need to take a deep breath and think about what needs to be done and how I am going to approach this. The goals are weight loss and to regain my health. I'm not on a time line. I just want to feel like I'm in balance.

First thing I'll do is drink lots of nettle infusion.

My favorite herb and I'm craving it! Seems like a good place to start.

Tosca Reno and Eating Clean - An Inspiration

I am so inspired by Tosca Reno - she is an amazing woman! At the age of 40 she started the process of turning her life, and her body, around. She went from overweight and stressed out to the complete opposite. At 50 she is an athlete, fitness model, author... and she is exactly the type of woman I look up to. I would love to be 50 and look that fabulous. Through her teaching, I believe I will!
