Many houses across the country including Toronto are finding that with the onset on Autumn and higher moisture in the air, those repulsive mold stains are returning. Mold and spotless houses are normal, don't think that mold says you have a unclean home. Items break or crack in a home and they are not always noticed straight away. These cracks are a home for those molds and until they happen to smell or the stain becomes noticeable then the mold continues its unrelenting breeding. For some house, mold is an ongoing issue in rooms like kitchens or bathrooms due to the increased dampness and humidity in these areas. Whether the mold is seasonal or year round the solution to the issue is exactly the same.

Once you have finished that then you need to get rid the circumstances that cause mold in the first place. When you are cleaning the space you want to avoid making the mold spores airborne otherwise they will fall in another place, therefore wet the area before cleaning it with your chosen detergent. Once you have finished cleaning, totally dry the area.
Porous surfaces, on the other hand, such as fabric, drywall, wall paper, or wood, are very difficult or impossible to clear of mold. Throwing away and replacing, where necessary, these objects is the best option in these circumstances. The simplest thing to do in this whole process is stop the mold from coming back. Try to rid your home of the situations where mold appears, such as leaky water pipes; also monitor the humidity in your home with a hygrometer so you can take preventative action if it gets too high. Simple precautionary steps such as frequent airing is essential. If the humidity goes above 60% then mold will come back and continue to breed. When its hot get an air conditioner, making sure you have cleaned the filters; this assists you to lower the level of humidity. On the opposite vein, acquire a dehumidifier for those cold and watery days. Best of luck, and here's to a mold free house.

- Thanks for sharing these 'vinegar' tips for treating black mold. I once had a leaky pipe that allowed water (unknown to me) to seep under a baseboard and into a bookcase in the next room. The books on the bottom shelf were 'eaten up' with mold and the bookcase & the books had to be thrown away! We have no idea how long it was occurring before deciding to move the bookcase one day and 'discovering' it. It occurred in a guest bedroom, so was not a room entered on a regular basis. Good to know about the vinegar treatment.

- Molds or mildew is dangerous, if the area that they cover and plan to corrode is extensive in nature. Killing mold on wood is the only solution. In no case should our tactile sense be tempted to touch the mold as this may lead us to have an allergic reaction. One could counter a sneezing attack or feel itchy all over the body. Molds, if not treated as soon as they appear, could spell disaster for the structure of the building. When wood is wet and dried thoroughly, mold formation cannot be the result. mould removal
