Getting rid of moles on your skin naturally
One person calls it a beauty mark, another an ugly mole. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, which is why your health should be your main concern. It's actually quite amazing how a little thing like a mole on your face can completely undermine your self esteem. At least it did when I was a teenager. Whether that mole next to my lip was a possible health hazzard was the least of my concerns at that time.
Now I'm older and more aware of the possible dangers of skin moles. I've learned to recognize the possibly bad ones and take appropriate action (seeing a doctor). And I've discovered healthy ways to get rid of healthy moles.

My Personal Experience With Getting Rid Of Moles
When I was about 14 or 15 I had a raised mole surgically removed on my face. It wasn't huge (like the "mole with the mole" in Austin Powers), but it was the only thing I saw whenever I looked in a mirror.
The surgery was over quickly, no problems with the anesthetic (which is a good thing cause a couple of years later I found out I'm allergic to a certain type of anesthetic). But I do have a slight scar. You won't notice it unless you're really looking for it though.
Now I've always had a lot of moles and most of them don't bother me (unlike the one I had on my face). But some raised moles are at very annoying places. Like the waistband of my pants and the strap of my bra. Sometimes they even start to bleed because my clothes scrape over them.
So I wanted to find a way to get rid of these raised moles without expensive and possibly dangerous surgery. Here's what I tried so far;
* Garlic.
Putting a clove of garlic on a raised mole had no effect on me. I might try it again some day in combination with castor oil and see if that works. I did constantly worry whether other people could smell the garlic...
Update: I have tried garlic again following the method described in Home Skin Mole Removal. After 2 weeks the mole has completely disappeared and the skin is healing nicely.
* Honey.
My first attempt at removing a mole with honey was sticky and unsuccessful. Then I tried again with honey that hadn't been heated. This was only half successful. You see the mole went away in about 4 days. But now, 5 weeks later, the skin mole has come back. Might try it again, but this time I'll apply the honey for more than 4 days.
*Chris Gibson's method from No More Moles, Warts or Skin Tags.
This worked relatively good. Tried this method involving Castor Oil on three raised moles. Unfortunately, I sort of freaked out when two of them started to bleed and stopped the treatment. I know they started bleeding because my motorcycle pants scraped them, but still, skin moles that bleed are no fun.
The result was that after the moles healed, 2 of them are now barely raised and half their original size, the other one is almost completely gone. After 5 weeks there is no sign of them getting larger again, so I'm pretty happy with that.
I will try Chris Gibson's method for removing skin moles again soon, this time sticking to his guidelines.

Natural Mole Removal
Getting rid of moles naturally
Surgery is expensive, especially if you don't have any health insurance, and it can be risky too, no matter how small, it is still an operation.
Most people don't know this, or believe it, but there are techniques to getting rid of moles naturally.
Natural mole removal won't leave a scar, will remove the mole completely preventing it from coming back and will be less painful than surgery.
When getting rid of moles naturally, there are several methods you could try. A lot of ready to use products are available like #1 natural mole & wart removal, Dermatrend, Mole & Wart EZ Clear or Itworkspaste. These are easy to apply, but can be rather expensive if you have a lot of moles to get rid of.
You could also go completely natural and use common products like apple cider vinegar, castor oil, garlic, honey,.... These are extremely cheap common household products.
The only problem with natural mole removal is that not every method works for everyone. Each body reacts differently, so some people may lose a mole with honey in only 3 days (worked for me), while it may take up to a month or not work at all for others. These household products don't cost much and aren't as agressive as the presold pastes, so it is definitely worth to find out which works best for you.

Surgical Removal of Moles
Getting rid of moles through surgery
The most common method of removing skin moles is surgery.
Surgical removal of moles is just a small procedure under local anesthetic. So there's no need to spend the night in hospital.
There are 2 types of skin mole removal surgery:
- shaving: the mole is basically shaved down with a surgical blade.
- cutting: the mole is cut out, the wound might need stitches afterwards.
Which type of skin mole removal surgery is used depends on the size and location of the skin mole.
Most people will be in and out of the hospital in 3 hours. After surgery the local anesthetic will start to wear off, and you will start experiencing pain where the skin mole was removed. Ask your doctor, preferably in advance, which painkiller you can use to take care of the pain.
A follow-up appointment may be necessary, especially to remove stitches. Disolvable stitches will not need to be removed and will disappear by themselves in 10 days.
After removing the skin mole surgically, you may experience the following symptoms:
- increased pain
- redness, swelling, inflammation
- unpleasant smell
- liquid leaking
Please contact your doctor as these may be a sign of an infection.
Surgical removal of moles will however always leave a scar. How visible the scar is will depend on the location and amount of skin that had to be removed. After about a year, the scar should barely be visible.
