Volume and Relevance of Traffic ("Quantity" and "Quality")
There are two things that matter a great deal in terms of getting web traffic:- Volume of Traffic (quantity)
- Relevance of Traffic (quality)
AND how valuable the traffic is - via the right keywords - applies to many (if not all) types of marketing online. So, this is information that you should make yourself totally aware of and put to good use no matter what type of online marketing you are pursuing.

What Are Keywords Anyway?
The Basics on Keywords in Internet Marketing
The most fundamental definition I can relay for the word "keyword" is: A term composed of one or more words that people type into a search engine (such as Google.com) in order to find information or products that they want or are curious about.For example, if you are interested in looking for a good set of golf clubs, but you aren't sure what kind of golf clubs you want, you might go to Google.com and type in the term, "golf clubs". This would yield a very large number of results, and there would be a large variety of golf clubs to look at and read about.
Keywords and Relevance
Relevance: The Key to Quality Traffic
I've come across a number of sayings that are commonly used online regarding traffic, such as "traffic is king", "getting more traffic to my site", etc., etc.Yes getting web traffic in volume is important, but is no more important than the relevance - which equates to quality traffic (people actually looking for the service or product who will buy).
In terms of keyword terms, relevance can be looked at as: "how closely the words being used in an internet search match the actual web page that they end up on".
An Example of Keywords and Relevance
Here's a good example of keyword relevance: Someone does a search in Google or another search engine for "sourdough bread recipe from Wisconsin", and they come across the title of an article, "Sourdough Bread Recipe From a Wisconsin Chef" - that would be an extremely relevant title for that internet searcher, and the likelihood of that person then clicking on that listing in the search listings is quite high. (Now - if the article is actually a sourdough bread recipe from someone in Wisconsin, we're in good shape. :-)Not only is that internet searcher/visitor going to click on that article, but if there are any sales to be made, additions to a mailing list related to the article, etc., this is someone who would be interested and a very likely customer.
All of the traffic in the world is worthless if it's not composed of interested people who are looking for what you are offering them.
That, my friends, is what relevance is all about.
