Getting Your Ex Girlfriend Back

A lot of my male friends ask for my advice when it comes to 'girly' matters. And lots of those questions seem to revolve around getting back their ex girlfriends! Obviously the best thing to do if you want to get back with your ex, is to not split up in the first place. But hey, these things happen, so what you do next depends muchly on why you split in the first place. One of the most important things I learned from Luke, was that you can't change other people. That means that whatever you might think is the reason that you split from your girlfriend (or boyfriend, this works both ways), there's no point in trying to force them to come back.

Trying to make someone do something is basically trying to change their actions. And even if you were to succeed in doing so, it wouldn't be a lasting solution.

But you can change yourself.

What does that mean in terms of getting back with an ex? It means whatever your problems were, you should work on overcoming that problem from your perspective. For example, if you think one of the reasons you split up with your girlfriend is because you always argued about one of her friends that you couldn't stand, instead of taking the cowardly option and trying to force her to stop seeing that friend (something that ultimately you cannot control) you should instead work on yourself and attack the problem from your perspective.

 

There are many ways of getting back with an ex girlfriend, but all of them need an understanding of this basic principal. Concentrate on what you can change (ie yourself), and the rest will be much easier!
