Getting Started with RSS
What is RSS, and what can it do for you?
What is RSS?
And why should you use it?
RSS is a format for delivering frequently updated Web content, often used by news-related sites and other online publishers.
To read content from RSS feeds, a special news reader or aggregator is required. Many web browsers, including Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2, and Safari 2 have this feature built in.
With many websites, content changes on an unpredictable schedule, and often by the minute. RSS allows multiple sources of content to be gathered in one place (on your desktop), via a news reader or aggregator.
Subscribing to feeds makes it possible to review a large amount of online content in a very short time and to be in contact with updated information more frequently.
Information on the internet becomes easier to find, because it is being brought to you; it is no longer necessary to revisit multiple websites for updated information.
