Wooden Boat Plans

When I was looking to build a wooden boat I had a really hard time finding quality boat plans. When I was looking I did find some free wooden boat plans but the problem I had with them is first they looked like something a twelve year old would build and second I wasn't too sure that they were going to float when I built them.

I'm not about wasting my time and money on building something when there is no guarantee that it will even work. I like tried and true woodworking blueprints.

I also do not want something, especially MY boat, to look like an amateur made it.

Like you, I take pride in my work and I want what I make to look like it was professionally made.

What I was really looking for when I was looking for wooden boat plans were plans of such high quality that I could sell custom boats if I so choose but I did not want to spend a lot of money on the blueprints either.

I know what your thinking..." You can't have it both ways. " But guess what, I can and did have it both ways. I not only found quality blueprints but I found some that do not cost an arm and a leg to buy either.

So what is better - Wooden boat blueprints or boat design software?

Well I guess that is a matter of personal opinion but I think the two complement each other quite nicely. I am not overly creative so just coming up with my very own design is a bit hard for me but I love to see how the boat I want to build looks in 3D so I tend to use both of them.

Remember the quality wooden boat plans that I was telling you about?

Yeah, you know, the good ones. Well... what I didn't tell you was that they also came with a boat design software.
