1. Only buy your ghds from an authorised UK ghd stockist. All authorised ghd stockists are supplied directly from ghd themselves. This is the only way to guarantee that you don't receive a fake product. Genuine ghds are also guaranteed for 2 years from the date of purchase.

2. Be very wary about excessively cheap prices. If it's a lot less than £90 and advertised as 'new' then it is almost certainly a fake. The wholesale price of ghds is very high, therefore authorised retailers cannot afford to sell genuine products that cheaply.

3. Be very careful if shopping for new ghds on eBay. Fake ghds are a huge problem on eBay. If you are planning on buying a ghd IV styler on eBay then follow this advice:

- What country is the seller registered in? Only buy from UK registered sellers. All 'ghd' products shipped from China are fakes.

- Check the seller's feedback thoroughly. If they are a recently registered seller with low feedback then they should be avoided. There are a few reputable ghd sellers on eBay, and they all have over 10,000 feedback specifically for selling ghd products.

After the resounding success of the previous model, pink ghds were well on their way to becoming a cult styling accessory. In their marketing campaign, continuing their support for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, ghd re-created the international pink ribbon symbol for breast cancer awareness by twisting a pair of pink ghds into the same shape.


2006 Model- Hot Pink GHD IV Styler & Travel Wrap
In October 2006 ghd shocked and delighted their devotees by changing the colour of the pink styler from baby pink to 'hot pink'! Not only that, but the 2006 limited edition pink ghd was the first ghd IV (Mk4) model ever to be released. The ghd IV styler had a number of improvements on the previous model (mk3.1b) not to mention a sleek and streamlined new look! This time, the pink iron oil was replaced with a fabulous travel pouch which doubled as a heat mat. Again, £10 from the sale of each iron was donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. In fact pink ghds were now so popular that ghd had become one of the charity's biggest benefactors.


2007 Model - Hot Pink GHD IV Styler, Heat-Proof Pouch & Clips
In 2007 ghd released their limited edition pink ghd IV styler a little earlier than normal, in early September. Sticking with the hot pink colour, but in a slightly different shade, ghd really excelled themselves with the bonus items. The 2007 model came with a pink pouch and heat mat, pink sectioning clips and an instructional DVD. However, the RRP also increased in 2007 to £135, compared to £125 in 2007, with £10 from the sale of each pair being donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Step 2: Protect

Step 2 in the ghd thermodynamics process invloves the use of one of 3 advanced Thermal Protectors. Prior to blow-drying, thermal protector should be applied to damp hair (or to dry hair before using your ghd IV styler). When the ghd hair straightening iron appeared in the UK, nobody had known anything like it. Being an ex-hairdresser for one of the world's leading salons, the lucky man who happened up this prize possession when travelling certainly knew a lot when it came to hair.
