Ghost chairs are an ideal piece of furniture if you want a stylish accessory for a small living space. These chairs are baroque in style, obviously reminiscent of the Louis XVI era, but Starck 's use of modern materials has made the Ghost chair a modern classic. I love the options this chair presents from a design perspective. Used in an ultra cool, modern space the materials fit but the design itself makes a statement. Reverse the scenario and include the chair in a more traditional setting and the design may compliment the other pieces chosen with the materials making the statement. This piece can both compliment and contrast at the same time and it is not often we can say that about a piece of furniture.

Although they may appear delicate given the transparency of the materials used, they are quite sturdy. On a practical level these chairs are shock, scratch and weather resistant. Kartell Barbie Lou Lou Ghost Chair (Kid Sized)

The Lou Lou Ghost Chair was designed by Phillippe Starck and it is effectively the pint sized version of his contemporary classic Ghost Chair. The Barbie Lou Lou Ghost Chair pictured above was designed to mark the 60th anniversary of Kartell and the 50th birthday of the iconic Barbie doll. If your little girl has a sense of style beyond her age or indeed if you would like to develop her appreciation of design, this chair will fit the bill. There is a grown up version of the Barbie edition chair available, so if some mom and daughter bonding time is in order you might want a matching set. Now please, please do not make this chair the naughty chair, in your home!

Kartell Victoria Ghost Chair

The Victoria Ghost Chair was added to the collection by Starck in 2005.This elegantly comfortable chair mirrors the design of the original but gives the freedom of an armless chair. The round chair back is reminiscent of the form of antique medallions. Again these chairs give the impression of fragility but this belies the chair's considerable strength. The Victoria Ghost Chair is available in a number of colors.
