Season 1 Episode Guide
Ghost Whisperer is an American television drama-fantasy-thriller that premiered on CBS September 23, 2005. The show was created by John Gray. It currently stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, David Conrad, Camryn Manheim, and Jay Mohr. Formerly Aisha Tyler was part of the cast. Ghost Whisperer airs Friday nights at 8/7c.
- 101 Pilot
- Ever since Melinda Gordan was a girl she possessed the ability to talk to earthbound spirits. These spirits use Melinda as a conduit to pass messages to the living; sometimes this information is too intense and scattered to understand. This leads to skepticism by the living and confusion for Melinda. But when she is able to aid both the deceased and the living Melinda realizes this unearthly talent is gift to human kind and that it is her calling to help all those that have passed connect to those that have survived.
- 102 The Crossing
- Six year old Kenny Dale (played by Joseph Castanon) is killed in a train accident when the family car stalls in the path of an approaching train. Unaware that he has died and unable to find his parents he befriends a young boy whose mother believes Kenny to be nothing more than an imaginary friend. Melinda
- 103 Ghost, Interrupted
- A young girl, Natalie, is placed in a psychiatric facility for her strange behavior following her identical twin sister Zoe's death. While on a field trip in town, Natalie runs away from her group and tries to hide in Melinda's shop. Melinda quickly realizes that Natalie's 'abnormal' behavior is due to her sister haunting her. Zoe is earthbound because of a devastating secret she took with her to the grave.
- 104 Mended Hearts
- A ghost helps Melinda save a woman who attempts suicide. Melinda learns that the ghost was the woman's fiance and that he was an organ donor. The ghost refuses to crossover until he knows who received his heart and until his fiancee is taken care of. Melinda tries to solve both problems at once.
- 105 Lost Boys
- Andrea and Melinda are contracted to auction furniture from a community inn before it is torn down. While cleaning the basement Melinda finds the lost spirits of three boys and their dog that perished in an orphanage fire 50 years ago. Melinda tries to help the boys pass on before the inn is destroyed and they are forever locked as earth-bound spirits.
- 106 Homecoming
- Melinda helps an upset teenage ghost and in the process learns something that will affect the lives of everyone this boy left behind.
- 107 Hope and Mercy
- A woman who died during a routine pregnancy will not cross over until she can get her husband to stop blaming himself. Andrea deals with a con artist in a revealing manner that tells us a little more about her murky past.
- 108 On the Wings of a Dove
- The five-year anniversary of Jim's father's death is getting close and Jim begins to act very strangely. Melinda notices this change in his behavior and believes the problem might be caused by a tortured spirit lurking around. While Melinda tries to help Jim, she is also presented with the surprise visit of an old friend.
- 109 Voices
- Melinda and Jim's car is stolen by a troubled teen boy whose mother died. He feels that his mother betrayed him when she was alive and can't forgive her. Melinda must help him understand what his mother wants to tell him. The mother was an electrical engineer who passed via electrocution and can only communicate by EVP (Electric Voice Phenomenon)
- 110 Ghost Bride
- In this episode, an evil spirit wearing a wedding gown haunts Melinda's friend Lisa. The spirit, called Serena, is very opposed to moving on and presents a tough challenge for Melinda. This spirit is special, Melinda learns, because she died on the day she married Lisa's current fiancé. The jealous, vindictive Serena has her heart set on destroying the wedding and the couple.
- 111 Shadow Boxer
- In this episode a woman who recently died will not pass over until her young son, who is a boxer, reconciles with his father, her husband. Melinda is enlisted to help this family come to terms with their loss but has a lot of difficulty getting these two men to reunite.
- 112 Undead Comic
- Melinda encounters the spirit of a dead comic who is confused and doesn't understand his current state of existence. Melinda learns that this comic took his own life and she helps him make amends with all those people he left behind before he passes over. Also in this episode, Jim is threatened by the antique shop's recent business boom.
- 113 Friendly Neighborhood Ghost (A.K.A. Ghost Next Door)
- While a man moves in across the street from Melinda, she notices that presence of a ghost as well. In an attempt to figure out what is going on, Melinda is threatened by the haunted man. This leads to a fight between Melinda and Jim about her gift and how she often takes things too far.
- 114 Last Execution
- The spirit of a man follows Melinda home from an art gallery. This ghost haunts Melinda into getting in touch with his daughter who is having serious problems since his death. Meanwhile, Jim is sued for trying to help a woman after her injury.
- 115 Melinda's First Ghost
- Melinda remembers how her relationship with her Mom got strained when she re-encounters the first ghost she ever saw. When younger, Melinda's mother could not deal with her daughter's prodigious and supernatural gift; this led to a growing rift between the two. Now Melinda must reunite with her estranged Mother to help save the spirit of this young girl.
- 116 Dead Man's Ridge
- Andrea's friend went missing during a hike and Melinda helps find him.
- 117 Demon Child
- While shopping for antiques at a local home, Melinda encounters a spirit of a malicious boy who is terrorizing his family. When Melinda realizes that he is putting people in harm's way she intervenes and takes on the challenge of helping this troubled child.
- 118 Miss Fortune
- The circus arrives in town and brings with it the spirit of a man who thinks his brother murdered him. Melinda must help this ghost come to terms with his death and his brother. And during all this, they discover a hidden secret.
- 119 Fury (A.K.A. Condemned to Repeat)
- Melinda must help the ghost of an African-American man who had been attacked and killed by a lowlife, racist white co-worker in the 1970s. The ghost, named Ely Fisher, is haunting the prosecutor (now a judge) who had enough evidence but still failed to file charges against the white co-worker. Melinda tries to help Ely find justice and help his son, Randall, to change his racist views.
- 120 The Vanishing
- After waking up from a coma caused by a head injury that put her in the hospital for a week, Melinda can no longer see or hear spirits. She fears she has lost her gift. At the same time, a person who she helped, Diane Shields, comes to her in need of her help. She asks Melinda to help her brother's daughter, who experiences strange and bizzare things after the recent death of her boyfriend during a football practice.
- 121 Free Fall
- Melinda experiences a sense of intuition when she realizes that a plane is going to crash when the spirits of the pilot and flight attendant contact her. Melinda tells Andrea about her premonitions and Andrea is worried for her brother who was meant to be flying out from Johannesburg that very day. Andrea and Melinda attempt to warn people about the impending crash
- 122 The One
- (Continued from "Free Fall") Andrea seems to know that there is something that her friend isn't telling her. The souls from the crash go at the crash sight as Melinda encourages them to cross over. However, the wide-brimmed hat spirit convinces them to stay earthbound. Melinda must keep the mysterious evil spirit from capturing the souls and also must reveal to Andrea how the plane crash affects her.

- 301 The Underneath
- Melinda meets a woman whose dead father blames Melinda for his wife's sudden death. A teenager named Justin takes pictures of Melinda and notices a man that appears next to her.
- 302 Don't Try This At Home
- The ghost of college girl Rachel starts chasing her classmates. The girl died right after trying to summon Bloody Mary with her friends and now acts as such by appearing and haunting them.
- 303 Haunted Hero
- Jim and Melinda welcome back a friend named Matt, who's just returned from his mission in Iraq. The man appears to be changed, especially to his girlfriend, who has been patiently awaiting his return. Seems like Matt is the only one who survived in his team, and he doesn't understand why, until the ghosts of the dead soldiers appear to Melinda to unveil the truth.
- 304 No Safe Place
- A man named Shane seems to be haunted by the ghost of his female stalker, Coleen. When Melinda investigates on his case, it turns out that things aren't as Shane says and her life may be in danger.
- 305 Weight Of What Was
- Melinda helps the ghost of a young woman who died while imprisoned by the families who accused her of being a witch and locked up. She had a young baby when she was imprisoned and is worried about her. Melinda and Professor Payne search town death records but a group of ghosts try to prevent that from happening.
- 306 Double Exposure
- Melinda and Professor Rick Payne talk with Claudia, a college professor who had a secret relationship with a student named Kevin who died recently in a car accident. His friend Sophie committed suicide, and Melinda must try to help her move on.
- 307 Unhappy Medium
- When a young woman goes missing, the family assumes it is a kidnapping but there is no ransom note. Jim and Melinda talk about the case because a "psychic" is about to talk to the family and Melinda knows that he really doesn't know anything but will be making stuff up to make the family happy just so he can take their money.
- 308 Bad Blood
- Melinda deals with a ghostly pair of lovers who refuse to cross over. She challenges them to a game of 20 questions, saying if she guesses their secret that they must cross over. They taunt her, cruelly calling her Andrea, forcing her to see an accident that happened between Matt and his father which then leads to his father's murder.
- 309 All Ghosts Lead to Grandview
- Melinda and Jim take care of a young girl named Becca who says she can also see ghosts. She claims her parents died when she was younger but Melinda coaxes her to tell the truth and she tells her that no one else understands and she wants to stay with Melinda. She says that she is forced to go to doctors, that they force her to take pills, and that the only way it will get better is to make the ghosts go away.
- 310 Holiday Spirit
- Melinda is at the house of young boy named Riley and as they're hanging Christmas ornaments on the tree, Melinda tries to get him to open up about the strange things he has seen.
- 311 Slam (a.k.a. Slambook)
- Melinda helps Ned at his new high school where there are several different hauntings. In the process, Melinda connects the hauntings back to a "accidental" death and a ghost who blames two popular high schoolers for his death. It is also revealed the ghost's sister knows more than she is letting on.
- 312 First Do No Harm
- Melinda helps a ghost who blames Jim for his untimely death in an explosion.
- 313 Home But Not Alone
- Strange happenings surround Ned's new girlfriend and her family. Ned enlists Melinda's help, who believes they may be haunted by their deceased father. Melinda gets to the bottom of it and helps keep the family together.
- 314 The Gravesitter
- Melinda confronts the town's blogger after several break-ins occur and he threatens to expose her. He then reveals he needs her help once he dies to find someone on the other side. The spirits under Grandview get more restless.
- 315 Horror Show
- Melinda investigates the haunting of a college student after the student sees a horror movie. The student was linked to the leader of a "horror club", Toby, who simply wants her to face her fears.
- 316 Deadbeat Dads
- Professor Payne meets Elliot, the brilliant, genius son of one of Payne's old girlfriends. He finds out the boy is almost 10-years-old and realizes he may be the boy's father, which angers his deceased wife. After watching Payne, Elliot and the boy's mother, Melinda tells Jim she wants to have a baby. Melinda meets with Carl, a detective she hired to trace her father's whereabouts after he left Melinda and her mother.
- 317 Stranglehold
- Melinda follows some clues about her father and is lead to a murder case, her father prosecuted as an A.D.A. in 1979 in which he convicted Paul Eastman in the murder of a 10-year-old boy. Melinda pays a visit to the boy's family and discovers he is a very relentless spirit that can take control of the people in his house.
