Is there a difference between Ghost and Spirits?
Wikipedia A ghost is said to be the apparition of a deceased person, frequently similar in appearance to that person, and usually encountered in places she or he frequented, the place of his or her death, or in association with the person's former belongings. The word "ghost" may also refer to the spirit or soul of a deceased person, or to any spirit or demon.
Wikipedia Spirits: The English word "spirit" comes from the Latin "spiritus" (breath). The term is commonly used to refer to a supernatural being which is transcendent and therefore metaphysical in nature.

A ghost is someone who has died and their energy stays between the physical realm and the afterlife. They have not walked through The Light. A good example would be like what happens on Ghost Whisperer. If someone has unfinished business, then chances are they will not want to go through the light.
A spirit is a person who has died and walked through The Light into the Afterlife and they can come and go between the Realms as they choose, many times acting as our Protectors.
A few of my own experiences
My mother and I use to live with my grandmother when I was a young child. There is where I have my earliest memories of seeing ghost/spirits.I use to speak to a little girl daily who sat on the steps leading to the third floor level of my grandmothers home. The little girl was dressed in clothing that I was not use to seeing and she wore a cape. I could not understand why she would not come down stairs and play with me, she would only sit on the steps and never leave them. I also remember she did not talk a lot, I was the one who did most of talking.
In the same house on the second floor, I was in my grandmothers bedroom and was horrified by something standing in the doorway.
When I was a little older, we lived in another house in Delaware, that was very haunted. I thought one day my mother was going to have a heart attack because of what she seen. She was sitting at the table eatting lunch and when she looked over to the doorway where the hall was that lead to the bedrooms, she seen someone walk past. I was outside playing and seen her sitting on the steps finishing her lunch, she was white as a ghost. I asked her what was wrong and she told me what she just seen.
A neighbor who lived next door was a very old man and he had lived in the same house for years. He told me about three women who had died in the house, which confirmed many things I had seen, heard and felt.
I lived in another apartment that scared me the death to go to the bedroom and the bathroom. Everytime I went into those two rooms, I felt as if something was with me and it was always freezing cold.
I lived a mobil home and seen a ghost/spirit in the closet that faced the end of the bed. I have had people appear to me, once a guy with a red and black plaid shirt appeared twice to me, once an eldery lady appeared to me in a kitchen.
These are only a few things right off the top of my head, I will add more I am sure.

I was reading your lens and it brought me back to a time in Junior High when I was all messed up on pills and I was ready to just run away or take a entire bottle of asprin or tylenol. I had debated on that for several weeks. During the 2 weeks of my struggles, could have been shorter or longer; I was amped on cross tops, anyways. There was this lady; she was gentle compassionate and a motherly type spirit that would come and talk to me. I never talked back to her she always talked to me. Telling me your loved, your needed, your ok and many things like that. I did stop the suicidal thoughts and thoughts of running away. That was during the time when Cindy had ran away and I was melting. That was the one experience I remember seeing that woman. But I have heard her voice other times in my life and felt her near me.

I really enjoyed reading your squidoo today. I too lived in a haunted house, (grew up there) my mother and other relatives had the most awful experiences but nothing touched me. I did see apparitions when young but was never scared. I guess like most as I grew I lost touch with that open side of me and fear replaced it. I lived there till I was 18 and always felt love and happiness from that house, why my experiences were different to those of my family I will never really understand.
Now I am a believer in both ghost and spirit but am too nervous to work with them, the only one I do know is here for certain is my mother , I can feel her and hear her, of course I am fine with her. OH she is here now I can hear paper rustling always a sign that she is near-LOL HIya Ma, she isnt always so nice to others though and a friend of mine fled from here with the hairs on her neck on end, later I found out this was no friend , but a very turnabout faced person who was lying to me dreadfully, thank you ma,LOL,

- As a past life therapist I have come across both what you would call ''ghosts'' (attachments) and ''spirits'' and your distinction makes perfect sense to me.. in fact, I was planning on writing an article on the same subject from a slightly different angle! Thanks for sharing your experiences:-)

- Great information. Sometimes during my consultations, I have to explain an "imprint." When people continue to experience the same thing over and over (like a tape) it is usually not an intelligent spirit but something that had such a huge impact on a place and/or being that it actually leaves a "print" of sorts in time. Cool stuff!!

- Such interesting information - thank you; I have seen both just as much as I have seen angels too. My son too seems to have picked up the vibes and has seen some peculiar stuff as well. I talk to him just to be sure he tells me - I do not want these specters to frighten him. My parents could not understand why I saw all these but well sometimes, strange things happen and they catch you at the unexpected hour!
