The Genocide Intervention Network (GI-Net) envisions a world in which the international community is willing and able to protect civilians from genocide and mass atrocities.

Created to empower individuals and communities with the tools to prevent and stop genocide, GI-Net is an unprecedented organization that will change the way America and the international community responds to the world's worst crimes against humanity.

GI-Net's mission and programs are grounded in consultations with a variety of experts on the ongoing Darfur genocide, members of the Darfurian community and others who have extensive experience in policy, education, media and grassroots organizing.

Our solution? Recruit a highly committed and diverse group of individuals and communities to form an active network that realizes the "never" in "never again." GI-Net members educate their communities, advocate for action by their elected officials, and fundraise directly for civilian protection and human security.

Members in Action

Activists from all over the country have joined together to form the first permanent anti-genocide constituency. By participating in lobby days, hosting events, or attending rallies you can make a difference and help bring an end to genocide.

In Darfur, the Western region of Sudan, an ongoing genocide has killed some 400,000 and displaced over 2.5 million more. The violence has spilled across borders into neighboring Chad and the Central African Republic and threatens to destabilize this entire region. Almost 2 million Darfurians currently depend on humanitarian aid for survival, and the current lack of protection for aid workers and humanitarian operations is only compounding the situation.

During the twentieth century, over 40 million people died as a result of genocides. In the first few years of the twenty-first century, more than 450,000 innocent civilians have already been killed by genocidal violence. It is time for the international community to stand up and pay attention to the genocide in Darfur and, more importantly, to the reoccurring problem of genocide in our world today. Educating yourself and your community is the first step toward creating a world in which the global community is willing and able to protect the victims of genocidal crises. We are helping to create a permanent anti-genocide movement that will not only address the genocide in Darfur, but all mass atrocities now and in the future. Join us and have a hand in stopping genocide.
