Giant Outdoor Games Make Being Outside More Fun

These days, most people don't get out as much as they should, but giant outdoor games can be a fun way to encourage kids and adults alike to spend more time in the backyard. If you're sick of having to drag the kids away from video games, then a person size game on the patio might do the trick!

Not only are these oversized games fun for every day playing, they're also a great way to make parties a little more entertaining. No one can resist a challenge to play chess with pieces the same size as a small child, after all.

Bringing Back the Classics

giant outdoor gamesWhen was the last time you played Ludo or Backgammon? Chances are, it's been a while. These classic games, along with the likes of chess, checkers and even tic tac toe, were once a staple in every household and played by all ages during family get togethers. These days, most kids don't have a clue how to play a real board game because they have so many other options. Giant outdoor games can be a fun way to teach them.

The great thing about these older games is that they really exercise the brain. They are fulled of logic and increase thinking skills which are important for kids and adults alike. Not to mention, there's nothing passive about these games . . . you'll be moving around the huge board just to play, which encourages movement. You can even stand kids on the board in place of the pieces for an even more exciting game.

Not only do giant outdoor games let you move around more, you'll get plenty of fresh air. Sure, they can be set up in the living room or any open space in the house, but there's nothing like a rousing game of Ludo on the back lawn with the neighbors! This is a fun way to exercise and it's something that even your visitors will want to try out. You may need to get better lighting for the yard, since you'll be out there a lot more once you have a game or two.

Which Giant Outdoor Game is Best?

giant outdoor gamesIf you've ever had board games, you know that they are very easy to collect. Even these giant outdoor games can be packed handily away and kept in the garage, so there's no reason not to have several on hand. You might want to start out with the game that you most enjoy playing, however.

For younger children, Tic Tac Toe is an excellent choice. It's simple, but still encourages thinking ahead. Slightly older kids will really enjoy Ludo, something that can be fun for adults, as well. This is a great game for parties or sleepovers, since up to four players can play at a time. It also lends itself well to teams of people playing, with each of four members in charge of a piece.

The more intellectual games include chess and backgammon, both of which are classic party games and work well for couples playing against each other. Haul out a giant outdoor game of backgammon at your next BBQ and see how fast people line up to start playing!

It's handy to have several giant outdoor games on hand in case you have more people around. It's also good to have a variety since you will probably get tired of playing just one game at a time. Start out with your favorites, then add to the collection each Christmas. Soon you'll have a full collection of great games to play with family and friends.
