Giant Squid Summer School Challenge #3 "Restaurant Review"

Local Restaurant Reviews

As part of the Giant Squid Summer School, participating Giants receive a specific weekly lensmaking challenge. They have a week to work on the lens, and then post it below to "turn in" their homework and show that it's done.

Week three took us on a tour of the Giants favorite eateries. We asked:

What's your favorite local restaurant? Who has the best burgers in town? Which diner make the best breakfast you've every had? Show off your home town eatery! Take some great photos, review their menu, showcase your Top 10 favorite desserts. Get creative!

Are you a world traveler? Showcase your favorite places to eat while you're on vacation. Do they make great Western Omelets in Nevada? Is France the best place for Crepes? Is New England Crab Chowder really all it's cracked up to be? Let us know.

Here's what the Giant Squid Summer School Class of 2009 came up with!

Giant Squid Summer School Students and participating RocketMoms: Please add your Restaurant Review Assignment Lenses to the List Below.

Well, I'm tardy but the lens is finally done. I chose my favorite hangout, Vitello's Restaurant. I'm anxious to check out the other lenses for this challenge.

This is a great lens to visit and read all of the guest book comments.

Somewhat late with this one, but got it done. I love buffet style eating so my lens highlights Golden Corral.

In preparation for my recent vacation, I read the book "Road Food". I actually ate at one of the restaurants mentioned in the book and will be writing about it shortly.

Well...where else would I write a review about? A Biker Bar???!!??......not this time. I love the atmosphere at the Carb's Claw in Atlantic Beach N.C.

Better late than never...just finished this assignment while on vacation miles away from my favorite restaurant. Been there enough I think I still got it covered. :)

I wrote my assignment sitting in the corner cafe - I've never tried that before and it was a lot of fun. I've never tried a restaurant review lens either but, after this, I'm going to look at some more local businesses.

I don't know why I waited until the last minute to make my lens. I had fun writing it and actually had all the information saved to make a lens about it one day. I appreciate the "push"! 5* and a big thank you!

I'm tardy (and so ashamed!) but finally got a chance to finish my lens. Does anyone else like to eat at Sonic?

Fun assignment! I have many favorite restaurants, but I decided to create a lens on our local Rainforest Cafe. It's not the most renowned food, however it does offer a jungle of a dining experience that's fun for the whole family. :-)

I couldn't help it but be a little 'cheeky' with this assignment. My favorite "restaurant" is the Big Top Candy Shop in Austin, Texas. This place is so much fun and I eat there more often than anywhere else! :-)

This was a little tricky since we're not eating out at the moment, so I've just focused on my favourite chain. I might expand the lens a bit in future - it turned out better than I thought it would.

This was a bit of a task for me as I don't often eat out, so I'm hoping a few more of my friends will pitch in with reviews to get the ball rolling and make the lens worth visiting.

Since we are all watching our pennies these days, eating out has to be more than going out for a meal - it has to be special - an event. I recently went to just such a diner - Sunshine Diner - a fifties diner in Vancouver, BC I even took my camera and behaved like a tourist :)..... we had so much fun! Fun to create this lens too.

I was able to complete the assignment on this stupid dial-up, but will have to wait until I get back to broadband to put the finishing touches on it.
