This is the place where I've tried to collect all the facts and links for all the projects run by Giant Squid Organizers and Greeters in the past. And, in a way, this lens is my own way to say thank you to those who helped me on my own way to become a Giant Squid, 100 Club member, a Greeter and SquidAngel.
Some of the Organizers and Greeters active then are now retired from this volunteering duty but they will always be those I'll remain grateful - for their dedication, their perservance and imagination. And their ever emerging desire to hep others.
Not until I've become a Greeter myself, I have understand what this really means. And what this title stands for. Essence of what Greeters do is explained in the word Greeter already: "To salute or welcome in a friendly and respectful way with speech or writing." Other synonyms for Greeter would be: saluter and welcomer.

It All Started with the Giants!
All of our Giant Squid Organizers and Greeters became Giants first!
As you all probably know, Seth Godin launched Squidoo in October 2005. In less than 2 years, Squidoo grow from zero to over 100,000 lenses! As in any other online community, there were those who gave their best and kept creating high quality and useful pages. Those lensmasters Squidoo HQ decided to encourage to create even more of those UUU lenses and to be the role-models for those who followed. This is how Giant Squid program was created and the first class of Giant Squids was announced on September 19th, 2007.

In those first three announcements for Giant Squids, there has been 169 lensmasters who created over 50 high quality lenses and deserved a title - Giant Squid!

Giant Squid Organizers - Making Squidoo a Better Place!
They are also Giant Squid Mentors - always ready to share!
When Giant Squid Organizers were introduced by Squidoo HQ, Squidoo was one of the fastest growing online publishing ventures! With growing number of contributors (lensmasters) and pages (lenses) but also spam and junk, HQ searched for a way to encourage those who create quality pages and to support their work.
This is where Giant Squid Organizers come in. With their knowledge and dedication to make and keep Squidoo a great platform for all of us who want to grow with it, Organizers took a role of those searching for quality and encouraging that quality to be transformed into the quantity of 50 lenses needed for lensmasters to apply for Giant Squid program.
Giant Squid Organizers have a tasks of managing several Giant Squid blogs, creating forum threads, writing LOTD posts, organizing the Giant Squid Greeters Program and deciding who gets Giant Squid status. They are really very busy ladies!

Short History of the Giant Squid Organizers
Who, when and why part!
Giant Squid Organizers were officially announced on SquidBlog on June 2nd 2008. Our GSOs were here introduced and described by Megan as "3 of our best, cleverest, most gracious lensmasters". And they were: Bonnie aka bdkz, Robin aka rms, and Patti aka GypsyPirate. There 3 ladies decided to give "their precious spare time on nights, weekends, coffeebreaks, or whenever the kids are napping" and use it for mentoring people into Gianthood, managing the application process and perhaps most importantly: championing our existing Giants.
What you might not know, there has originally been four Giant Squid Organizers. Forth Organizer was Ellen aka GreekGeek, one of the most helpful and dearest lensmasters on Squidoo.
On May 5th 2008 Bonnie (bdkz) started a blog called So You Want To Be A Giant Squid? and with her 1st post she introduced all of the four Organizers and invited lensmasters to: "Subscribe to this blog for tips on how to become a successful Lensmaster. Along with tips we'll have interviews, ideas for new lenses, Squidoo news, inspirational stories, fun FAQ's, Q & A sessions, fishing trips (just kidding)...the bottom line is we're going to provide you with the tools, knowledge and inspiration to become Giant Squids. So be prepared to learn, laugh and have a lot of fun. The journey to becoming a Giant is just as important as the badge."
On May 7th 2008 Robin (rms) launched a blog called Giant Squid Community Showcase with a purpose to "introduce your best lenses to the world by way of featuring them" (speaking of the Giant Squids).
Ebook for Potential Giants created by Giant Squid Organizers!
One of the 1st projects our hardworking Organizers did, was to publish an ebook in pdf format called Want to be a Giant Squid? with 15 important tips for different aspects of lensbuilding, all of this in an effort to assist all interested for reaching a goal and become a Giant Squid.
This ebook shares many valuable tips and tricks and you're more to welcome to follow the link and download it or read it online. You did already? Never mind, I find every time I've read it something new! Something I've missed!

Ellen was a GSO for a short period of time.

She has been one of the most helpful and kind lensmasters I've get to meet since I've joined here. One more thing about Ellen is, I really see her as a courageous lady who didn't let her chronic illness stop her on her way through life!

Giant Squid Greeters - Squidoo Continues to Grow!
Giving helping hand to Giant Squid Organizers in guiding potential Giants
And by August 2008..... Squidoo grew to nearly 700,000 lenses and 250,000 lensmasters! With more and more lensmasters at hand, Squidoo HQ and Giant Squid Organizers decided to bring in some helping eyes and fingertips to spot even more of these great lensmasters and help them stand out by assisting them to grow to Giant Squids.
This is when Giant Squid Greeters were introduced. On August 19th 2008, first three Greeters were announced in a blog post on So You Want to Be a Giant Squid? blog: Christene, Noadi and ThomasC - all of them SquidAngels and members of 100 Club.
On October 4th 2008, Giant Squid Organizer Bonnie (bdkz) posted a thread on SquidU, looking for another 7 lensmasters willing to join Greeters program and "search for lensmasters with potential, keep up morale in the forum, post in Guestbooks, and mentor. " Out of numerous lensmasters who applied, 7 new Greeters were chosen: awelldressedbullet, Beeobrien, Caseyfern, Clouda9, Everythingmouse, kab, and KimGiancaterino.
All of these 10 Greeters were volunteering until February 12th 2009 when new round of Greeters were announced. This time, new volunteers who applied and joined Greeters program were: AWellDressedBullet, EverythingMouse, Rajays, Gods_Grace_Notes and JustBon-Crochet-Designs.
On April 10th 2009 Joan4, a_willow and kab (rejoining) joined Greeters program. These three Greeters, along with Rayans and JustBon-Crochet-Designs, and Giant Squid Organizers started a Giant Squid Challenge for June 2009 deadline.
At the end of June 2009, GrowWear joined Greeters and helped other Greeters and Organizers with preparations for new Giant Squid Challenge for September 2009 deadline.
On September 16th 2009 three new Greeters were announced and joined already active Greeters: OhMe, bevspaper and luvmyludvig, which brings us to total of 9 Giant Squid Greeters active in this moment.
Meet the Giant Squid Greeters!
Past and Present
Christene
Giant Squid Greeter from August 2008 - February 2009

Christene has been been Squidoo member since February 6 2007 and she created 135 lenses since. She was in 1st batch of Giant Squid Greeters but also one of the first SquidAngels serving for 3rd time at this moment.
This lady has 4 lenses for LoTD and 5 purple stars so far! You can read more about her fascinating journey on Squidoo in her lensography.
Christene created these lenses to help others:
- Best Lensographies Ever
- Think of your lensography as your Squidoo home page. It can be the single URL that you direct people to, and they will have access to ALL of your lenses.
- Squidoo Resources
- Squidoo is great! It's a fun place to browse around, read some lenses, recommend products, advertise your business, drive traffic to your websites, educate the public, earn money for charity, or earn money for yourself!
- Squidoo Payday Questions & Answers
- It never fails, every month on payday the same questions are being asked in the SquidU forum. Most of them by new lensmasters, but surprisingly, there's also quite a bit of confusion among some who have been around for a while.
Noadi, aka Sheryl Westleigh
Giant Squid Greeter from August 2008 - February 2009

Noadi aka Sheryl Westleigh, has been a member since May 3 2007 and has created 144 lenses from scratch. Noadi is probably one of the most creative people I've met on Squidoo. You can learn more about her and her artworks in her biography.
She is also a person who brings creating tutorial and how-to lenses about crafts to the perfection!
Helpful lenses created by Noadi:
- Using Squidoo to Promote Your Handmade Business
- Squidoo is a great, easy way for anyone selling handmade items to promote their creations. Display your knitting, painting, sculpting, jewelry making, etc. and generate more visits (and hopefully sales) on your website or webstore.
- Giant Squid Greeters
- A Giant Squid Greeter is a champion and a go between for The Giant Squids on Squidoo. We celebrate the current Giants, champion potential Giants and establish relationships with and recruit potential Giants.
- Squidoodling with Noadi
- By squidlings of course I mean my lenses. This lens is my way of keeping track of my lens stats, sharing tips, and other fun Squidoo stuff.
ThomasC
Giant Squid Greeter from August 2008 - February 2009

ThomasC has been a member since January 30 2008 and has created 421 lenses from scratch. Wow! Thomas actually made over 600 lenses but many of those are created on order for other clients. Thomas runs a cool blog where he offers tips for successful lensbuilding called Squidbuilders.com.
You can find more about how he went from lensmaster to Giant Squid, Greeter and an Angel, and how he managed to do all of this and still make over 400 lenses in his biography.
Some tips shared by ThomasC:
- How to make it into top 2000 lensrank
- Most squidoo users know that reaching the top 2000 in lensrank can be difficult! Other squidoo users see it happen often and to a lot of their lenses.I have watched about 5-6 of my lenses go in and out of the top 2000 on any given day!
- How to feature your favorite band on Squidoo.com
- Do you have a band that you just love to listen to on those late nights up in your room? Help your favorite band gain more exposure by making them a squidoo lens!
- How to Maximize the Cafepress Module
- Most squidoo users add a money making module to each lens. Some lensmasters like to add several modules to make money. You may like the eBay module, or the Amazon module, but my favorite module to use is the cafepress module!
awelldressedbullet
Giant Squid Greeter from October 2008 - April 2009

awelldressedbullet, aka Kathy has been a member since June 14 2007 and has created 200 lenses from scratch. She's a lady whose lenses has been featured on LoTD blog four times til date! One of them was for her Lensography of Kathy aka Pretty Bullet.
I've met this lady and feel fond of her because of her humor - she reflects this in all of her lenses as well. So, if you're looking for a break with laughs, you better not miss her lenses!
Kathy has quite a few helping lenses and you can reach them following these links:
- Kathy's Squidoo Help Library
- This is a quick reference lens with a few of my favorite Squidoo lenses that I often refer new lensmasters to. Of course, I've tried to organize them so you can find what you are looking for easily.I've offered a selection of lenses on the same topic.
- Kathy's Squidoo Tutorials
- This lens includes all my Squidoo Tips Tutorials. As new topics are completed they will be added here. Be sure to check back from time to time as I plan on adding more in the near future.Squidoo has updated their lenses recently (I love the new look by the way)
- My Squidoo Story
- Hello, my name is Kathy, aka 'Pretty Bullet'. I am a Squidette and this is My Squidoo Story! I started seeing the term "Squidoo" on the eBay Stores Discussion Boards before eBay Live 2007 was about to start.
KimGiancaterino
Giant Squid Greeter from October 2008 - February 2009
Kim Giancaterino, has been a member since October 30 2006, has rated 7,484 lenses, favorited 3,682, and has created 276 lenses from scratch. This lady gets around a lot! Kim is a silent type. I'm pretty sure she has visited half of the lenses she rated without leaving comment! She's a little secret agent of the SquidAngels! :)
She has a variety of interests and she transformed many of them into lenses. You can see a complete list of them in Kim Giancaterino Lensography.
A human Angel looking out for her beloved Squids:
- Mission: Possible - Becoming a Giant Squid in 2009
- Attention Giant Squid Greeters,Giant Squid Community Organizers, and Citizen Squid Mentors...Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to welcome new lensmasters to the Squidoo community, answer questions and offer assistance to struggling newbies, and mentor lensmasters
- Promote Any Business for Free with Squidoo SquidZipper Lenses
- Do you have a regional business that you're currently promoting online? Would you like to learn about a FREE method of promotion that uniquely situates you as an expert on your neighborhood? Would you like to interact with potential customers in your area, and earn cash for yourself and charity?
- Ten Tips for a Bless-Worthy Squidoo Lens
- Being a Squid Angel is a responsibility I take very seriously. I'm currently serving my third term as a Squid Angel, and am thrilled to have an opportunity to recognize and reward Squidoo lenses worthy of a boost.
kab
Giant Squid Greeter from October 2008 - February 2009; reactivated in April 2009 - still active!

kab has been a member since September 24 2006 and has created 232 lenses from scratch. If you ever wondered about that avatar on the right... She said that's what's she sees when she closes her eyes real tight! Kab is one of the Greeters with the longest serving period.
She wrote about her proud moments on Squidoo and one of them was for receiving a purple star for her lens What to Do With Your Old Soda Cans (this is my personal favorite too!).
These are only some of kab's helping lenses:
- 50 Things to Add to Squidzipper Lenses
- The key to a great squidzipper lens is personalization. Squidzipper already has an automated lens made on each zip code. So, what else is there to say? A LOT! The automated lens only shows the almanac version of your town. It doesn't show the people or the places like a lensmaster can.
- SquidKiva - A Kiva Community for Squidoo Lensmasters
- SquidKiva is a Kiva Community of members from the Squidoo community. Kiva facilitates micro-loans to individuals worldwide that would otherwise not be afforded the opportunity to open or expand their small business.
- Keeping Current With A Squidcast Calendar
- SquidCasts have the potential of bringing visitors to your lens, but they are often used inefficiently and ineffectively. I have found that squidcasts are most effective when there is some incident that prompted the cast to be sent.
beeobrien
Giant Squid Greeter from October 2008 - February 2009

beeobrien, aka Bee OBrien, has been a member since March 8 2008 and has created 79 lenses from scratch. Bee loves (LOVES!) to cook! You can see that if you browse her lensography. When she's not cooking, she has a variety of other interests she's passionate about.
Bee is very kind person, very supportive to her Squidoo friends and on constant lookout for new friends.
Few of Bee's help lenses:
- HTML for Photos: A Tutorial for the Semi-Clueless
- How often do you look at a really great Squidoo lens and wonder how they changed colors or backgrounds or add photos somewhere other than the upper right-hand corner of the module? They use HTML.
- Add Borders to Your Lens Photos on Squidoo
- Would you like to jazz up the photos on your lenses? You can use borders on your images to give them much more impact and to help them 'pop.' You just need to use a little bit of simple HTML magic.
- I Wanna Be a Giant Squid!
- I know a lot of other people want to be Giant Squids too. But why? What drives people to spend this kind of time and effort? And after they get to Giant Squiddiness, what do they like about it? I want to know. Please, Giants and Giants-to-be, let me know what you think.
Caseyfern
Giant Squid Greeter from October 2008 - February 2009

Caseyfern, aka M K (Casey) van Bronkhorst, has been a member since November 30 2006 and has created 67 lenses from scratch. Casey created a whole serial of lenses about Squidoo (link to few of them are listed below) that any lensmaster should take a loot at. As a graphic designer, there is a lot of color in these lenses!
Casey has a cool blog called Perfectly Shaped World where some of the lenses from Squidoo gets featured from time to time so don't be surprised if you see this blog in your backlinks list!
Just a glimpse of useful links for Squidooers:
- Squidoo Modules 101 - The Starter Package
- There are probably a dozen gazillion how-to lenses about Squidoo modules, and this one joins the pack mainly so I can have a reference at my fingertips.
- Squidoo Modules 102 - Unique Content
- Finding the right modules to build a lens can be tricky even for the experienced lensmaster. In the Squidoo Modules 101 lens, I outlined the Starter Package. In this lens, I'm outlining the modules under the Add Unique Content tab (found when you select Add Modules).Looking for the basics?
- Squidoodling Artwork for your Lens and Group
- I'm very happy to help with small bits of art for my fellow Lensmasters and Groupmasters. (Not a Lensmaster? Become one!)I work with the Squidoo Design Group, so a request placed to that group may end up on my desk from there.
clouda9
Giant Squid Greeter from October 2008 - February 2009

clouda9, aka Correen K, has been a member since May 10 2007 and has created 109 lenses from scratch. She's one of the dearest people I've met on Squidoo and she chooses to promote other people work in her blog posts at Squidreport.
She says for herself that Squidoo is "her addiction, her passion, and a way for her to get things out of her head and onto something more tangible."
This cheerful lady is always available for help:
